Queen Square, Bristol, December 2016.
Hi All,
I recently braved the chilly mornings to attend the last Queen Square meet of the year. Surprisingly, there were a decent turnout of cars for December. Fair play to all the drivers who attended. I hope these photos help lift the misery of a cold winter day!
What better place to start than the Fords?
There was just the one Capri there, this mark 1 RS3100 lookey-likey. It's still a nice car though.
The wheels on this Mustang look like they take a lot of polishing.
Rather nice 2.8 Granada.
Loved this Escort.
Who can resist a nice S1 RS Turbo?
Crayford Cortina.
A modern colour seems to suit this Anglia.
American excess at it's very best! This Ford LTD Country Squire was huuuuge!
This F-100 seemed to be weaving all over the road............
A look under the bonnet might shed some light on it......
1960's T-bird.
Quiz time!
What do you think this vehicle is? The biggest clues are the shape of the front wings and door. Answer at the bottom of the post.
The rat look isn't to everybody's taste, but the details put into this were superb. Look at the front bumper, for example.
The 928 is seldom seen these days.
A few stunning Mantas.
The three of them together make a great photo.
I love the Rover P6.....
....the Citroen CX too.
Now for some various modern sporty stuff.
Not your usual shopping trolley. Mid-engined, RWD, 3 litre V6....
Decisions, decisions......
Muscular looking Challenger.
Back to the classics. Integrale 16V
A blast from the past. This Metro was immaculate.
A '47 Nash.
The load bed was full of Christmas presents. A great touch!
Lotus Sunbeam.
Another one you don't see much these days.
This beauty, a Berkeley, sports a 328cc powerhouse.
This 800cc Honda S800 is a supercar in comparison!
I'll leave you with this brilliant blast from the past.
I hope you enjoyed looking through these photos.
All the best,
Andrew.
The mystery pick-up is a Carbodies FX4 London taxi! Did you guess it?

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for posting the pics
Some nice stuff there and some rarer cars too, which is nice to see actually. A good turnout on what looked like a typical winters morning.
Is it me, or are more people driving Classic Cars into the Winter months? Always seem to see them around rain or shine
Maybe because you can now tax them on a monthly basis Maybe they are used as daily drivers
Or are they less of a than me Albeit a with a clean car
Andy

As you probably know, the turnout to car meets can be a bit hit and miss during the winter months. Luckily the sun was shining on that morning and I think that tempted a few more people out of bed than would normally bother. Perhaps a lot of people now do what Neil does and keep their cars taxed all year round so it's ready to go out on a dry day. It's great to see these classics out and about in the winter months though, isn't it? Although I'm like you, I prefer to keep my car clean during the winter!
All the best,
Andrew.

Looked a great meet Andrew, big turnout for the time of year. Thought the rat was a Morris minor . Got a thing for those big American estates as a friend of my fathers had one when I was a kid, last I heard, he's still got it. Will have to get to one of these next year, if stupid shifts don't get in the way..
Cheers for posting,
Rob

Great guess, as I'm sure the bonnet is from a Minor. That's definitely not the standard one from a taxi anyway.
As you know, it's always worth making the effort to go to these meets for the variety of cars. I look forward to hopefully seeing your fantastic car sometime during the next show season. It'll look slightly different than the last time I saw it.......

Thanks! Yep, great morning. I wasn't expecting much as it was a December meet after all, but the quality and variety of cars was superb.
As you have guessed, I really loved the Manta. I thought the Escort was terrific too, but I've seen it a few times before and it was the first time I've seen that Manta, so the scales were tipped in it's favour.
Here's looking forward to a great show season in 2017!
All the best,
Andrew.
