NEC Classic Car Show 2016

Post by Caprifan Rob »

Hi all, went for our annual pilgrimage to the NEC yesterday. The show just gets better, so many amazing cars of all makes on show. As usual took far too many pictures, so just uploaded a few for those who may not have gone to enjoy.

This was in car park on our way in, a great condition unmolested 1.6 Laser

Great selection of pictures Rob and thanks for posting, bet you had a great time. The owner of 3.0 Ghia is very much supported by his wife they make a great team :D I missed it this year sadly as its one of my favourite shows.

Hi Rob,
Fantastic photos of lots of wonderful cars, thanks for sharing. I don't need to ask if you had a good day, the answer is obvious! :)
The red mark 2 1.6L and the black Cosworth powered car were both at the CCI Nationals this year. Both are beautiful cars.
I saw the Uren Stampede at the 45th anniversary show, and was for sale on Ebay soon afterwards for £30K ish. I wonder if it did sell, as I think it's fair to say it's an acquired taste.

Another point of note is that the Capri in the replica Triplex colours (displayed on the Burton stand, I think?) races in the Classic saloon championship. There is an excellent build thread with loads of info and photos on Lee-mk2's forum.

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Rob,
Great pics thanks :D
Going to try and get there next year......Went 3 years ago and it was great, albeit alot to take in on a one day visit.

Glad you got some XR's for me  The Supersport Branch weren't allowed a stand this year
They usually have the same 4 cars every year which is a bit strange, but to not have them at all :headscratch:

I was talking to someone who went on Saturday, and he was shocked at the high prices some cars sold for at the Auction.....

Roll on 2017 :)

It's definately an acquired taste .. I prefer the look of the signal orange Mk2 below it in the pictures, but with the Stampede 302ci engine :D

Hi Rob.

Just sitting here in the canteen at work wondering if you or anyone else had attended this show and low and behold just seen your superb photos !!

Amazing Capri's fella. Stunning examples indeed. Thanks for posting them mate. I cant and I wont pick a favourite...how can you when they are all so incredible :)

I really love that Fiesta Supersport too. Always adored that shape Fiesta....but not quite as much as the shape of our beloved Capri

Rob I was sitting at home kicking myself I did not go as I ended up not working....but I managed to Autoglym B112 AAT in prep for the winter weeks approaching....

As Andy said I will def try to make it next year too. It looks a stunning show. Glad you enjoyed it mate and thanks again for the pics. Nice one :)

All the best now

Nick

PS Forgot to mention your Capri is looking fantastic too Rob

Glad you enjoyed them Nick, we all enjoyed the show this year ourselves, there's just so many great cars to see. There were quite a few new cars on show too including the Aston DB11 which looked fantastic, well worth the trip. I'm still stunned by how much time & effort people put into their choice of car. Something for everyone.
Cheers,
Rob

Looks like all the cars were polished to within an inch of their lives. Great stuff.
