Haverfordwest Classic Car Show June 2016
Hi All,
Here are some photos from the recent classic car show at Haverfordwest. The standard of the cars can't compete with the ones in Nick's photos from Santa Pod, but I'll post them anyway.
There weren't many Capris there, unfortunately, but this 2.0S in black was superb.
Modified pre-facelift Mk1 fitted with a V8.
This very original 2.0GL is exhibited at a lot of the local shows.
I think the back of the Consul Capri is much better looking than the front.
This Mk2 Escort Mexico looks fantastic in yellow.
Dark blue seems to be an unusual colour for an RS2000.
They look awesome in black though.
Yellow with an X pack.
Wonderfully immaculate Cortina 2.0 Ghia.
And this Escort Ghia deserves high praise.
Mean-looking Anglia.
Escort XR3.
I'm a sucker for a stunning Cobra kit.
I wouldn't turn down this MDA GT40 kit either.
Several Irish enthusiasts make the trip to this show every year. They were a friendly bunch of lads and had some superb timewarp cars.
BMW 316 (E21).
When was the last time you saw a 1st generation Honda Civic?
Lancia Delta Integrale 16V.
Talbot Sunbeam LS.
Toyota Celica GT-Four.
Fiesta Mk2 1.1 auto.
Talking of Fiestas, this 1.1L was also immaculate.
1967 Citroen DS19.
Hillman Imp Californian Coupe.
1961 Mercedes 190SL.
Opel Ascona (Vauxhall Cavalier) Cabriolet.
This Astra GTE was the same one that was at the Cardiff show a few weeks ago.
A stunning Mk1 GTE.
A pair of beautiful Novas, a 1.3 Sport and a 1.3SR.
Another Vauxhall! This time a VX4/90.
Lotus Esprit S3.
Opel Manta 1.8 Berlinetta. The hatch doesn't look anywhere near as good as the coupe, in my opinion.
A rival coupe from back in the day. VW Scirocco.
There weren't many American cars at the show, but these three Chevrolets were my favourites.
Plymouth Prowler.
This won't be to everyone's tastes, but I quite liked it. It's a one-off chop-shop job Rover 75 coupe. The roofline and rear window are from a BMW 3 series coupe.
Rare survivor, a Rover 216 Vanden Plas series 1.
Triumph Dolomite Sprint.
Volvo 1800S.

Hi Andrew,
A good selection of cars I would say. Everything you need from a local event
The Anglia and Mk1 GTE are great
Thanks,
Andy

Yes, they were both very nice cars, I especially liked the GTE.
I will definitely make this show a regular fixture as it is probably the best one in the area. There were around 600 exhibits in all, which isn't bad for a local show.
Andrew.

Thanks for the comments, I'm pleased that you enjoyed looking through the photos. Yes, I took my car to the show on Sunday On the way in to the show field, the marshal asked me if I "wouldn't mind" parking near the Escort RS2000s. I could think of worse places to park!
On Saturday, there was also a classic car run through glorious Pembrokeshire countryside, which was part of the same thing.
All the best,
Andrew.

That run sounds like a lot of fun. Capri is looking really good as always Andrew. That rover coupe looks an excellent conversion, a lot of work & looks like a factory produced car. Think the mk1 Astra GTE looks superb, rare now & that one is in great shape, like the X packed RS too. Looked a great show, cheers for posting.Andrew 2.8i wrote: On Saturday, there was also a classic car run through glorious Pembrokeshire countryside, which was part of the same thing.

Thanks very much.
Although the Rover 75 is not really my thing, I had to marvel at the quality of the conversion. Not only did it look just right, in terms of proportions, but the quality of work was superb. If you didn't know any better, you'd swear it was made on the production line alongside the saloon. In fact, with Longbridge's reputation, I'd say the build quality was better than the factory could produce!Freelanderfan wrote:That rover coupe looks an excellent conversion, a lot of work & looks like a factory produced car.
The chap was a Rover 75 nut, really enthusiastic about them. The car always had people around it, and he was always happy to talk. Fair play to him!
In case you hadn't already guessed, it was the same chap that had the Rover 75 two-front-halves job at Cardiff.
Yep, it's been a long, long time since I've seen one that good. Great colour too. One of the stars of the show, in my opinion.Freelanderfan wrote: Think the mk1 Astra GTE looks superb, rare now & that one is in great shape
This show is definitely one to put in my diary for next year.
All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
Some Great Cars there, too many to mention them all, but a special mention must go out to the (obviously the Fords...) VW Scirocco, the MKI Astra GTE and the Rover, so long as when you say 'Chop Shop', it wasn't the idiots Bernie & Leepu!!! Oh and the Delta Integrale.... Nice pics Andrew, cheers for sharing them. Also made me miss Haverfordwest, I used to go on Holidays a lot in Lydstep and we would visit here an awful lot, all round Pembrokeshire in fact, an amazing part of the Country. Cheers for sharing, all the best,
John...

Thanks for your comments. It was a decent show and the Pembrokeshire crowd are enthusiastic. They love their classics there!
As you say, it's a picturesque part of the country too.
Andrew.
