Queen Square, Bristol. April 2016

Post by Andrew 2.8i »

Hi All,
A dry but cold morning in Bristol for this brilliant meet. I met up with a few of the chaps from the forum and we managed to display our cars together, which was not an easy task as it's so busy here.
First off, the forum cars.
Neil's 2.8 injection, Mark's 280, John's Injection Special and also my 2.8. All looking good, despite constant attacks from birds in the trees above!

Mark's new CCI replica dash. He's made a brilliant job of fitting this, you really can't tell that it isn't genuine. Except that it's in much better condition than most genuine ones!

Image

These other Capris were also stunning. Sorry, I couldn't get a decent photo of the Mk1. You'll have to take my word for it that it was stunning.

Loads of Escorts of all descriptions.

Sierra Cosworth.

Lotus Cortina. It's unusual to see a Mk2 one though.

Image

Talking of Lotus, here's a Lotus Carlton. These are amazing!

Image

A lovely Triumph Italia 2000.

Image

A few years ago Trabants seemed to be everywhere when they were trendy. You don't see many now though.

Image

Lotus Esprit Turbo.

Image

Rover P6 3500.

Image

Rare Honda S800.

Image

Hillman Imp.

Image

And a Avenger Tiger. I love these.

A similar colour scheme on this AMC Rambler Super Bee.

Ford Super De Luxe from the 40's.

American Ford pick up.

With an interesting bumper ornament.

Image

Dodge Charger R/T. Looked and sounded gorgeous!

Image

It's always a treat to see a DeLorean.

Image

Two together cause quite a stir...

Early Chevrolet Corvette.

Modern Chevrolet Camaro.

Audi Coupe.

Alfa Romeo 4C.

What car meet would be complete without a Cobra replica?

Hi Rob,
It was great catching up with you and keeping up to date with progress on your Capri. Perhaps soon we'll have another Capri in our little convoy? :D Corey's car was attracting a lot of attention when I walked past it. The classic Mini seems to be as popular as ever.

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Des,
This meet is a fantastic morning out. There is such a great variety of cars, and it's made all the better by the informal come and go as you please atmosphere. Perhaps you could start something similar around your neck of the woods? Glad you enjoyed looking through the photos.

Hi Andrew,

Yep as already said a great set of pics mate. I can tell you I was really gutted not to make it this morning. Would have been great to have met up with you chaps. The forum cars all look simply stunning. Nice one chaps, you all deserve a big :applaud:

Marks new dash really does look great and he dont need a beer towel to protect it :) But as said all four forum Capri's look splendid as ever.

So many other great cars too. Thanks for the pics Andrew.

All the best

Nick

Hi Guys,

Really disappointed I wasn't able to make it. I'd been looking forward to meeting up with a bunch of the guys from the forum but was sick as a dog all weekend and barely left my bed let alone the house. Typically I'm well enough by Monday to return to work!

Looks like you had a great morning and the weather gods were definitely looking after you. I heard it was a good show from a mate who made it down (TBH I think he just wanted to rub my nose in it as he made it and I couldn't).

I'll certainly be making the effort to make it along to more of these if I can. 8th May is looking good for me, which hopefully will make up for not being able to come to Beaulieu the week before. I might even be able to convince my mate to bring his MKII RS2000 XPack if I'm lucky.

Hi Nick,
I'm glad you enjoyed looking through the photos. It's a shame your shifts clashed with this meet, but you really must try to get to a future one.

Hi Neil,
Yes, it was a good day and there was something there for everybody to enjoy. As long as they like looking at cars, that is!
It was good to meet up with everyone again, it's a pity Nick couldn't make it, but he would have had a heart attack if he'd been parked under the trees with us!

Hi,
Sorry to hear that you weren't well. It's always the way that as soon as the weekend is over you were fighting fit again!
I'm probably not going to the May meet as it clashes with the CCI National. Then again, I may go to this one in preference to going to Badger's Hill. I'll make up my mind closer to the time. If I do go, Ill certainly look forward to seeing the Mk2 X pack!

Thanks Andrew!
Assuming I make it in May it'd be great to meet a few people from here. I'll see what I can do to convince the MK2 owner, his work means he can go for weeks without being able to have a day off so it'll depend if he can arrange things around it but I'll start bugging him about it now :)

Hi,
If he can't make it, with a bit of luck he might let you borrow the car to drive there!

Borrowing someone's classic... isn't that a bit like asking to borrow their wife?
