Hi Andrew,

Just been looking through your superb pics mate. Nice one ! Really enjoyed looking through them. As ever some beautiful cars. I am with Rob in a mention for that stunning 3.0S ! Love the Escort RS1800. Beautiful car. But so many other great cars. No wonder you try to get along to this as much as you can and its a bit of a drive if I recall you saying before so this speaks volumes for how good it is. I was sorry to miss the trip over with John last year but certainly hope to get over for one this year.

Great pics again mate. The show/meets season is off and running...hip hip horray !!!!

All the best mate

Nick

Hi Nick,
I'm pleased that you enjoyed looking through the photos. You're right, there were some unusual and stunning cars there, and as ever, I do enjoy going to this little meet.

Now we just need good weather. What could go wrong? :D
You should try to get along to this in August, if John comes along too.

All the best,
Andrew.

Nice pics. Must have taken you an age to upload all those. Really good selection of cars. It seems to be an unusual meet this, not like a proper car show but more of a casual one to just turn up for as long as you like then go when you like. I know that there are a lot of meets like that, but this one seems unusually big. Looks really good actually.

Hi Paul,
Thank you, I hope that you enjoyed looking through them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

That is the beauty of it. It's an informal car show that attracts, at a guess, 200 cars and many more visitors on a decent day. All held in a beautiful 18th century garden square.

This meet attracts lots of cars that you won't see at regular car shows. Not all the cars that attend are show cars, some are what might be described in today's parlance as "ratty", and many show signs of original patina.

Examples such as this Triumph Toledo.

Also this Datsun 160J.

All the best,

Hi Andrew,
Big Place :)
What are the usual start/finish times for this ?

I also like to see cars that aren't 'Show Standard' just honest and used :)
Someone I know hates it when a car on the stand looks a bit tired, but to me that's life, and better to have one like that than not at all.....
It gives people hope too IMO that cars still aren't out of there reach.

Hi Andy,
Start and finish times are dependant on when people come and go.
The vast majority of people are there by 8 AM, although some arrive later, and people start leaving by around 10. Almost everyone has gone by 11.

Hi,
You're right to be ashamed.......
Did you enjoy the meet?

Andrew.
<hangs head>

I'll be honest I had mixed feelings about the meet. There were some lovely cars there and I really enjoyed walking round chatting to a few folks and seeing what people had brought with them. It did however frustrate me that I wasn't able to take the Capri down as with one thing and another I just haven't had the time to work on it. I'm hoping that going along to these and meeting a few of you guys will give me the inspiration I need to get mine finished and back on the road!

It was also a shame that the pair of tw*ts driving round and round the square in the AMG Merc didn't have the strength of personality to just park up and enjoy the show. Instead they had to make an exhibition of themselves by revving up the engine and getting everyone to look at them. Maybe I'm getting old and my tolerance is wearing thin but that sort of thing really doesn't impress me. I was like "well done, you spunked 50 grand on a car and had it wrapped".

Anyway, that aside it was a great day and I was able to take my little'un along (although I'm going to rethink using a buggy next time as those cobbles are not easy to navigate). I look forward to seeing some of you at one of the next ones.

Hi,
As Andy says, there's usually one. People like that are usually kept in check, as there are regular patrols by the Police, both in cars and on foot.
Although the Police don't appear to be there to ruin anyone's fun, (I think they just enjoy looking at the cars too...) I'm sure they would act if any of the exhibitionist drivers stepped over the line.

Unfortunately I'm busy that weekend going to a Christening. I'd far rather go to Simply Ford but there you go! Next year maybe.

Great photos Andrew, thanks for uploading.

Looks like a really good variety of classics there. Shame it's so far away for me to get to.
Must have a look to see what goes on up North come the summer...

Hi Matt,
I hope you enjoyed looking through the photos. It's a 2 hour drive for me, but it's worth it, in my opinion.

If there's a similar breakfast club meet in your area, you should give it a try. Both this meet and the one in Walton Bridge, that John goes to, seem to have a wider variety of cars than most local classic car shows.

Great to see queens square full of cars again, I am planning on coming to the April one along with Neil so hope weather is as good as you had for this one. Really enjoyed this meet last year as the early start means a nice drive up and as said already, after a good look round, a tea and a butty you are on the way home again and although some cars are leaving from 10.00, you do get others coming in behind them so you get a second walk round with many different cars.

Looking forward to 10th April, are you coming again John

Hi Mark,

It would be Rude not to make the effort I recon, having missed the 1st one Andrew posted, just looking at these Pic's as you say, really gets you in the mood for that Early Morning start again and to catch up with Andrew, Neil and yourself of course!!!

I'll have to see if I can get a Mini convoy from over here for this, I wonder if there are any like minded Capri owners local to me??? Hummmm..... If they also had a Lacquer Red Capri to Boot, something tasteful, with a Really Nice Interior... Can you think of anyone???

Meet up in the same place by the Church maybe??? Cheers Mark, all the best,

John...

I agree with john, having another capri the same colour as his in convoy would make all the difference, any ideas if anyone has one in Johns area, I am sure I have seen one on here with shiny pedals and gear stick.

Meting at the church at 7.30

 I own a Lacquer Red Capri with shiny pedals and gear stick

I am utterly gutted chaps, as I have been reading this thread regarding the April 10th meet at Queens Square and checked my work rota and I am working on this Sunday :banghead: I will try to get my duty swapped if I can but not going to get too excited quite yet as its getting pretty hard to find drivers willing to swap duties...but as said I definitely will try as I really want to get to this. Especially as a few of the gang are going too :crying:

John, I would love nothing better than to convoy with you mate, seems like ages since we last did a proper Lacquer Red convoy fella. Hopefully the weather for Beaulieu will be kind to us so we can have a great convoy down South. Hopefully will be seeing you beforehand anyway. :)

Mark, I have not been out for a drive in my Capri since I refurbished my pedals and gearstick. I don't want to get them dirty before Beaulieu so thought it best to park up the Laser till then....only joking of course but I am refurbishing my garage at the moment so I am really busy doing this, but the sacrifice of not driving the Capri will be worth it when I finish the job in hand and have a much better home for the Laser :D Shame you cant make it to Beaulieu fella but hopefully will catch up with you some time this year.
Andrew 2.8i wrote:You can both use it as a warm-up drive in preparation for Beaulieu.... :D
Andrew, think I will have to wait till Beaulieu itself now mate, rather than this April Queens Square, but I really will try to get over your way for one as it really does look a terrific way to spend a Sunday morning. But I am really looking forward to seeing you at Beaulieu. Its been a while...

All the best guys, I will be back out working on my garage tomorrow...resting Easter Sunday, then back out working on it Monday and next week after work each day. Will post up some pics soon...

All the best chaps

Nick
