Queen Square September 2015
Hi All,
A decent-ish meet today, made better by the appearance of some forum cars belonging to John, Neil and Mark.
Attendance was a little down on usual, but there were enough interesting cars to make the trip worthwhile.
First up, a little convoy of cars. A sight to behold! I parked mine out of shot as I didn't want to lower the standard!
John's 2.8 Injection special.
Neil's 2.8 Injection, already attracting attention!
Mark's 280.
Here's my 2.8 Injection.
Now on to other Fords:
Escort Mk2 van.
With a difference.
Escort RS2000.
Escort RS1800.
Escort RS1600i
Lotus Cortina.
Another Cortina Mk1.
Mustangs.
Thunderbird. You just have to marvel at the sheer size of these things!
Here's a rarity from down under, a Ford Falcon GT351.
Capri Laser. Not from the forum, as far as I know.
Sapphire Cosworth.
Ford Prefect.
With an eye-catching rocker cover.
One for the van lovers. Early Ford Econoline.
American Stuff.
How rare must this 1940's International Harvester 1.5 Ton truck be?
1950's Chevrolet Task Force.
Plymouth GTX NASCAR replica.
Chevrolet Camaro.
Here's the section where I indulge myself with photos of rarely seen cars that were once commonplace.
Honda CRX.
Volkswagen Corrado.
Early Colt Lancer Celeste Coupe.
Alfa Romeo Spider.
Mercedes 280CE.
The ultimate track day car? A little too extreme for road use, in my opinion. Ultima Spyder.
AC Cobra replica.
Lotus Elan.
Lotus Esprit.
Ferrari Dino 246.
Rover P6 3500.
Alvis.
Hillman Imp.
Austin Mini.
Hang on, what's this contraption?
Two throttle pedals?
A look in the boot reveals the answer. An engine at each end, a feat of engineering!
This Volkswagen type 2 was here again this month. Not my cup of tea, but has to be seen to be believed!
A rather nice Volkswagen type 3.
A few nice Vauxhalls now.
Victor FD.
Magnum 1800.
Astra Merit. Basic, but very nice condition.
Well, that's the day in pictures, I hope you all enjoy looking through them. If anyone fancies going next month, give me a shout.
All the best,
Andrew.

Great pics Andrew of some great cars
Love the CRX in fact I was going to get another as I had 2 in the 80's, but got the Celica instead.
Glad you all had a good day, will def get to one at some point in the XR or Celica, although I think that would be out of place......
(Unless I can fit a Janspeed to it) Maybe a convoy with Toby

You should come along to a meet. As Neil said in another thread, there's plenty of Japanese cars there. The Celica won't be out of place at all.
I've always liked the CRX, especially the VTEC. Hard to find an unmodified one these days though, sadly.andyd wrote:Love the CRX in fact I was going to get another as I had 2 in the 80's, but got the Celica instead.

Re: Queen Square September 2015
Great photo's Andrew, if that doesn't convince a few more to come along I don't know what will I think this was one of the best days out in the Capri for me this year. Admittedly the good weather helped, but its a great drive for Me and Mark through the countryside. Which makes a pleasant change from being stuck in traffic jams.
Glad I finally met up with you this year. And your car is a credit to the hard work you've put in and given me a bit of inspiration to crack on with a few more things on mine that need tidying up over the winter months.
If I don't get along to the meet next month, I'll definitely go to one of the first in the Spring!
All the best
Neil

I noticed that too. I'm sure any wet spots would have quickly dried with the heat of the exhaust!

Thanks. Hopefully a few others may come along to another meet.
It's always nice to meet like-minded Capri owners. Maybe we'll do it again next year at Simply Ford, CCI National, Uxbridge, Ace Capri day...sheff wrote:Glad I finally met up with you this year.

Plan to be there myself in the spring, all the forum cars looked excellent parked up in the square. Some great pictures of the meet as usual Andrew & a credit to you for setting up this great convoy. My sons liked this meet as much as I did as there's something for every taste. As soon as my shift doesn't clash, we'll get up there again. Glad you enjoyed.sheff wrote: If I don't get along to the meet next month, I'll definitely go to one of the first in the Spring!

Hi Andrew.
Fella thanks for the superb pictures. Really enjoyed looking through them...although it took me a while to get past the first five
Your Capri's looked absolutely stunning ! Nice one guys...you did the forum proud...but that's no surprise to me as I have already seen all your splendid Cappas in the flesh and seen the superb standard you boys have got them to
Hmmm....maybe it was a good thing I could not make it after all...I would have been drowned out convoying in with you 2.8i's...even with my Sportex Exhaust System with 2" Stainless Steel Tailpipe
Anyway when I did eventually get past the first five pics the car that definitely stood out for me was that (RS2000) Escort Van Love it ! What a head turner
As ever loads of loively cars so thanks for posting the pictures Andrew...but I STILL cannot help but return to the first five pics again and again and again......
All the best chaps and well done again for a great showing and glad you all had great drives too
Hope to catch up with some/all of you soon
All the best
Nick

Thanks for the comments.
As you said, there's a little bit of everything at this meet, to keep everybody entertained. That's why I like it so much.
Looking forward to seeing you in the Spring. Possibly another Capri to join our little convoy!

Thanks for your comments, and I'm pleased that you enjoyed looking through the photos.
You've got to make it to a future meet. You can even bring your Quest Elite Deluxe Foldable chair with adjustable reclining positions, with adjustable height arm rest with drinks holder incorporated into one of them.
As you said you liked people who wreck photos by putting their chairs up by their cars, here's a photo I took after the meet at my friend's house. Just for you!
You can just see one of my 2" chrome Sportex exhausts and my new stamped metal plates.
All the best,
Andrew.

Hey Andrew,Andrew 2.8i wrote: here's a photo I took after the meet at my friend's house. Just for you!
Thanks for that extra picture of your stunning 2.8i fella...only thing is some has only gone and "parked" their foldable chair beside it so it has gravely interfered with your photo. What a ...and I mean, its not even as though its a Quest Elite Foldable Chair with adjustable reclining positions, with adjustable height arm rests with a drinks holder incorporated into one of them ( )
Such a shame as like you said you can only see ONE of your TWO ( ) 2" chrome Sportex Exhausts, and your new stamped metal plates I hope you gave the owner of this "NON" Quest Elite Foldable Chair a piece of your mind Andrew...its just not cricket old chap
Jeepers the crime must be bad where you live mate if someone has to sit an guard their Classic Car whenever they park it up...and I thought North London was bad....maybe best to give that bit of land over "that" bridge a wide berth next time I am thinking of crossing over:lol:
Andrew 2.8i wrote:You've got to make it to a future meet.
I was half hoping against hopes to make the October meet (weather permitting ) but methinks we will be driving up to Yorkshire that very same day, and the winter is drawing in fast so I am running out of time this year to attend this meet. How late do they go in for. I am sure I recall you attending this meet very late into 2014 ?
All the best mate

Hi Andrew,
Cheers for arranging this today, it was Great to finally get over. Also to catch up with yourself, Neil & Mark again. What a Great place for a Meet, so much space and so many cars of all Makes and Years.... I will certainly aim to get over again, not as interesting a drive as Mark & Neil, as I had to use the M4 all the way!!! Through the Morning Mist & Fog, Winter is on its way, but its not quite here yet!!!
Any how, I hope you don't mind, but I just wanted to ad a few pics of the day, which I thought might be worth sharing too....
So, where to start, how about the Forum Capri's??????
So here is Yours, in amazing condition and clean??? Doesn't cover it!!! Yes, Even your Injectors!!!

Weird, as I always use it plugged in!!!! Sorry Andrew, I can tell you though, it was a Pleasure following you, I also did notice you put your foot down going up the hill as soon as we hit the National..... A Great turn of Acceleration!!! I had heard it coming, when you knocked it down a Cog, or at least you sounded as if you did!!!
Well, if anyone else can get along to the next one, or next Year, I would fully recommend they do. Great to catch up Mark, Neil, Andrew, cheers and all the best, till next time,

Hi John.
Some great pics you added mate. Nice one
Bet you must have had a great drive over this morning. You must have had the M4 to yourself for a bit...good job maybe I was not there to "hold you back"
Wow that pic of Andrew's 2.8i side on is amazing. What a brilliant shot...one Andrew should get printed and framed !
And as for the one of all four forum Capri's in a row.... ...and I see you boys left a gap for me to park in just in case I turned up un announced and by some miracle
Thanks for the extra pics mate. I know I missed a great little meet but more fustrating was I missed out on a great little forum meet-up with you boys and of course the now infamous "free Capri owners only" fry up
Will be in touch fella.
All the best
Nick

Re: Queen Square September 2015
Hi John,
Thanks for adding these fantastic extra pics of some amazing cars (except the first one, obviously)
Thanks also for coming along to this meet, the four forum cars together made it a great day. It was good to catch up with you again and to meet Neil and Mark, and have a chance to admire your stunning cars.
I see you've added a photo of Glen's mini, he'll be chuffed with your comments. Sadly, the car only just made it back to Filton before it began depositing the contents of it's sump on the road. Who'd have one of these old cars, eh?
Here it is just before we noticed the big puddle of oil underneath.....
Although I'm surprised you could hear my exhaust from so far back!!
Your car looked fantastic as you cruised past me. I could hardly keep my eyes on the road, I was too busy looking!
Looking forward to catching up again (Simply Ford?).
All the best,
Andrew.
