Queen Square August 2015
Hi All,
This was a brilliant meet today, with lots to see. Certainly one of the best Queen Square meets I've been to.
I've posted photos of most of my favourite cars here. I hope that you enjoy looking through them.
This thread is a little picture heavy, by the way.
First off, the Fords.
Two very nice Capris there. There was this Mk1.
2.8 Injection. Yes, Andy, a 4 speed in black!
Ford Thunderbirds.
Some nice Mustangs too.
Ford Sierra XR4i.
A few nice Sierra Cosworths.
And an Escort Cosworth.
Fiesta RS Turbo.
Escort RS1600i.
Escort RS Turbo S1.
Rather good turbo cabriolet.
Flickr
And a Mk4 Turbo.
Escort Mexico.
And a stunning Twin Cam.
I didn't get to see what this one was as it flashed past.
Escort RS2000s.
Some nice Cortinas.
Mk5 2.3 Ghia estate.
Humble little Fiesta Mk1. Love the steels wheels on this.
Prefect. Perfect!
Granada 2.8.
Consul.
Classic.
Here is a Ford Popular leaving. Sounds great.
Other Classics.
Dodge Charger.
Reliant Scimitar, but the less popular GTC.
A Scimitar SE4.
Hillman Avenger Tiger.
One of my favourites of the show. A Colt Galant.
Here is a beautiful Lancia Beta.
Talbot Sunbeam.
And another.
Vauxhall Astra.
GTC convertible.
Vauxhall Viva HC.
50's Chevrolet.
Here's a big one from the 70's.
Ferrari 328GTS.
Lots of very nice VW Golfs.
And a few Opel Mantas.
This one had a V8 conversion.
Opel Monza.
And what a rare treat to see an Ascona too.
50's Chevrolet Pick ups.
Get your motor running........
Citroen DS19.
Jensen Interceptor.
DeLorean DMC-12.
My friend took his Mini 1275GT.
Here's another Mini, but this one had a Honda VTEC engine installed.
A rally replica.
AC Cobra replica.
Jaguar C type replica.
What meet would be complete without an E type?
One of my favourites. BMW M3 E30.
BMW M3 by Andrew Davis, on Flickr [/img]
70's Chevrolet Corvette in a 70's colour.
60's Corvette in a nicer colour.
Dodge Dart.
Lancia Delta Integrale.
Triumph 2000TC.
This BMW was fitted with a modern BMW V8.
A fine selection of Porsche 911s.
Porsche Speedster.
Porsche 928.
Honda Z600.
Alfa Romeo 33, a rare spot these days.
As is a Fiat Uno. Unless you live in the same street as stevemarl, that is!.
Another old Alfa Romeo.
It's best you don't ask....
Something for everyone.
And there were lots of modern exotica.
New Chevrolet Camaro.
Dodge Viper.
Audi R8.

Re: Queen Square August 2015
What a great meet Andrew, glad you posted these, must have taken ages ! Couldn't make this one ( working weekend shift), looked like a great day, some fantastic cars there. That wide arched BMW was in primer last time I saw it, looks amazing in orange. The yellow mk1 capri looks really smart, really like the white escort Mexico too. Is that a body in the back seat of the dodge charger ?
The videos capture the great sounds of the cars, especially the V10 Viper.
Took yesterday off to go with Corey to 'Mini in the Bay' in Cardiff, a great day with a drive across the barrage too,
Not as exiting as Queens square, but a fun day out. Hope to make the next one. Cheers for posting some great pictures.

Re: Queen Square August 2015
Hi Andrew.
Wow fella! What a fantastic show at Queens Square today. So many wonderful classics mate. Not surprised you rate this one highly...looks like the great weather persuaded everyone to pop out with their Classics:D
Those two Capri's look lovely but surely there were three lovely Capri's there today...shame you did not post up a photo mate
Love the Mk1 Escorts and the Jenson Interceptor. Not forgetting the Mustang as well
Your mates Mini looks well nice too Andrew.
I seen a VW Beetle driving round north London in exactly the same condition as that VW Van...must be something we are missing...
Anyway Andrew so many beautiful classics it's almost impossible to pick a "favourite". What a stunning show and great way to spend your Sunday morning.
Thanks for taking the time to post so many of them for us to enjoy. Nice one fella
All the best
Nick

It's a pity you couldn't make it, it was a good show. Make sure you put next months meet in your diary.
The BMW guy has chosen the perfect colour, I think. The car really looks the biz.
I was just trying something new with the videos, I was inspired by Mk1 Keiran on Youtube.
Unfortunately, there was a large Police presence, so everyone was behaving themselves! Maybe next time I'll capture some proper action.
The Mini meet looks like it was a lot of fun, I bet you all had a great day. The weather was glorious on Saturday too. Perfect!
All the best,
Andrew.

Vauxhall Astra.
Hi Andrew,
Looks like you had a great time, I must get to this one next month..... The car above is a personal favourite of mine, as it was the same as my Dads even the colour. I learnt to drive in it back in 1981, probably the first car I drove legally with L plates and without the day I passed my test By the way its a super rare Opel Kadett, but I know you knew that, you were just testing us to see if we were awake
All the best

Thanks, glad you enjoyed looking through them. To be honest, I didn't realise I posted so many!
I'm planning to go to all the remaining meets for this year, even if the weather isn't brilliant.
All the best,
Andrew.

You've passed the test!
You're Dad's Astra must have made an impression on you. Usually, I'm not too keen on white cars, but the Astra Mk1/ Kadett D looks superb.
Neil, all is not as it seems with this one. It's an Astra with an Opel grill and aftermarket wheels. It can't even be a genuine GTE, as it has the saloon bodyshell, not the hatch. I think it's been fitted with a 2.0 red top.
All the best,
Andrew.

Wow I'd forgotten they did the boot version. It wasn't very popular if I remember correctly. My Dad went for the Opel version as he thought German cars were better made I must say for a small 1300 it was quite a lively little car The 1800 version of the Kadett was the GSE. Great looking cars, but the 1800 8V engine didn't feel very exciting unlike the later 2.0 16V engines in the MK2 Astra.
All the best

I'm sure that this must be a modified base model, as I thought the high performance versions were all hatches.
As ever, I am prepared to be corrected by somebody more knowledgeable than I.
Your Dad may be on to something about German build quality being better than in the UK. I know that's certainly true of Ford engines!
All the best,
Andrew.

I'm sure your correct..... I think they only made it in a Hot Hatch version, this must be a modified base version. Still a nice car but would look better in a hatchback body. I think you're also right about the German Ford engines, although some will disagree
And a big congratulations on having your photography recognised
