Ford Fair 2015

Post by Fordoholic Nick »

Hi all.

Well had a really nice day today up at Silverstone today at Ford Fair, although the show did not seem quite as good as in previous years. Maybe it was our imagination but both me and John thought there were a lot less "classic" fords today and "less" things going on too. Seemed quieter than usual. Boy oh boy, there were so many Focus an Fiesta this year you would not believe it  But the Classics that were there were to a superb standard as expected. Anyway I still really enjoyed myself and had a fantastic convoy up with John so was well worth the early start, even though at 0730am we got stuck in the queue for over an hour  If I decide to go again next year I think I will follow John's lead and arrive later after everyone has got in. One thing I noticed was how few Capri's that were on show...but that got me and John some extra attention en route :D

Anyway hope you enjoy the following pics...starting with the Capri's...

Lovely 2.8i

not too sure about the rear boot spoiler though...

nice Red 2.8i

and another one...
Image20150802_101631 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

but bumper-less at the rear end...
Image20150802_101610 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

Great 4 speed 2.8i that looked pretty similar to the one that Andy recently sold...but maybe not quite as nice on closer inspection...

Image20150802_101946 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

Beautiful

still a lovely Capri though :D
Image20150802_122350 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

John's 2.8i looks stunning as ever :applaud:
Image20150802_135911 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

with his now famous beer towels to protect his mint dash :)
Image20150802_135918 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

Well that's it for the Capri's I think. John may have a couple more to add. Hope you enjoyed. We really noticed the low numbers of Capri's this year compared tp previous but I am sure you will agree the ones that were there were superb.

Now the other Ford's....starting with Fiesta's

Looked like a great day out for a :ford: aholic! Lots to like there, some great Capris, yours & johns looking stunning as usual. Great blue colour on that first injection. Hadn't seen a mk1 fiesta with those flared arches before but it looked good I thought. A few boys in work went up looking for spares, so I'll be talking ford all day tomorrow :D
Cheers Nick, enjoyed them.

Hi Nick,
Looks like you had a great day. Some nice Classic Fords there, shame there weren't a few more.

Here's a photo of the engine bay you didn't see. Unfortunately not a great photo! It had either a Zetec or 4 cylinder cosy engine I can't remember exactly :?
Image

The yellow MK1 was also at the Ace yesterday. That was a very tidy car!

My favourite car is a van......... The MK1 Escort van :) Someone has done a good job there. It looks simply amazing :applaud: And it looks like a nice Anglia next to it.

Cheers for posting the photo's

Yep, really did look cool mate. I just love the Fiesta MK1 shape so much...but it still comes second to our beloved Capri :D

Thanks again Rob, it was a very enjoyable day.

Neil, both me and John did notice the whole show seemed "smaller" than usual but still some gorgeous Classics. But dam there was soooo many Focus/Fiesta ST/RS as expected but still a shock ! Even the jumble section seemed smaller too....but I will still probably attend it again next year...can't help it mate...I'm a Fordoholic

Thanks again for that photo mate.

Hi Nick,
Fantastic photos of a superb event, thanks for posting. A very good selection of Capris, Fiestas, Escorts and others in attendance. What about those two lacquer red Capris in the car park? I bet they stole the show, what stunners! :D

Despite the show being smaller than usual, it still looks as if you and John had a great day. Pity about being stuck in traffic on the way in, but thats to be expected at such a big event.

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Nick,
Great pics from Chav Fair sorry  Ford Fair :D Love the Mk1 XR2's, the Mk1 Cossie Van and the Black 4 Speeder (Rare to see one of those) :applaud:

Many people said Classic Ford was quieter this year too :?

We had the Subaru Brigade yesterday  Revving the Nuts out of them luckily quite a way from us :D
I like the Cars and have had one, but they get given a reputation thanks to some of the owners :headscratch:

Glad you had a good day and great weather too :D

Thanks Andrew. Glad you enjoyed looking through them fella.

Amongst all the Focus' and Fiesta's we did manage to find a nice selection of Old Skool Ford's to look over and enjoy. I am glad that came over in the selection of pics :D
Andrew 2.8i wrote: Pity about being stuck in traffic on the way in, but thats to be expected at such a big event.
Mate I have been to this show the last six years now and every year the "queue" to get in gets bigger and bigger and earlier and earlier. When you come off the M1 onto the A43 you think you have maybe avoided the traffic...then all of a sudden you see the queue in front of you  I think next year if I decide to go again I will leave a lot later to completely avoid this...but having said all this if I could choose a traffic jam to spend over an hour in, I would choose a Ford Fair traffic jam...a "fordoholics" dream :D ...except maybe the 250 focus'

Thanks Andy. Nice one.

Mate John deserves all the credit for spotting the 4 speed 2.8i and for a moment we were actually wondering if it WAS possibly your ex 2.8i (after a very recent possible sale) as it matched a lot of the spec...but on closer inspection the Janspeeds had seen a lot of service and we recalled you only just replaced yours not long before you decided to sell. Plus I went on the forum to get a picture of yours  But this was a lovely example indeed....

andyd wrote:Love the Mk1 XR2's, the Mk1 Cossie Van
Andy this cossie van was absolutely spotless fella. As mint as you can get. What a "head turning" paint job too. Beautiful. And there were some really stunning MK1 Fiesta's yesterday as you seen. I really love this shape mate. Those XR'S are to die for...especiallt the white ones. There were a couple there, both gorgeous. So all in all a great day and still very much worthwhile if you keep away from the Focus'
andyd wrote:Many people said Classic Ford was quieter this year too

Mate I really do believe that this was purely down to the shit weather we had. I love Classic Ford and if the sun returns next year so will the people :D My mate is getting married in Kerry, Ireland next year and he has asked me to be his best man. Wedding is set for Thursday June 2nd...I reckon that Classic Ford 2016 will be on Sunday 5th June  I may have to get a flight back on Saturday so I can attend Santa Pod :)

Antway, thanks for your kind comments fella,

All the best

Hi Nick,
Ask Andy if you and John can borrow a couple of his Choppers to ride past the queue! :D

While I'm on here, I'll mention that the engine bays of the Escort van and the yellow 1600 Sport are a credit to their owners. Absolutely superb.

Also, there is a member on the forum called b16nyk, presumably that's his car that bears the same registration in yours and Neil's photos. Perhaps he'll be on here to say what engine he's got in the car?

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi All,

Well, as Nick suggested, I might have a few more pics to show. It was a Great day out I must say, a great Mini Convoy again with Nick in his Gleaming Capri. Like he says, the Que was amazing, to give it a different name... :xd: We did have a bit of pushing & barging, a couple of Motors coming up the Verge shouting 'Get out the way, coming through'!!! Gave me a Giggle anyway, it also gave us the chance to have a few good chats with other people stuck in the outside lane!!!

Any way, onto the Pics then, so lets start with this one. Question. What do you do if your Capri gets injured???

Great extra pictures John. The Mexico has always been my favourite mk1. Don't mind the spotlights myself, a period accessory which looks right on the escort mk1 or 2. That estate, like the van in Nicks pictures looks brilliant, nice subtle arches too.
Cheers,

Hi John,
Cracking extra photos, thanks for posting.
I agree with Rob, I don't mind the extra lights on a Mk1 Escort, but not as keen on a Mk2, curiously.
Great idea with the plaster, now where do I buy a bulk pack? :D

Hope you have a great show next weekend.

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi All,
I've just looked through the photos again and noticed the 4x4 badge on the Escort Cossie Mk2 in John's photo.
That must have taken some engineering skills to make the engine and drivetrain fit. Well done that man.

Nice one John :agree: It was a cracking day out and well worth the hours (or so it seemed) we spent trying to get into Silverstone on the A43...but on the plus side my temp gauge did not go above the halfway in all that time queuing so that made me :D Its always a great pleasure to convoy with you mate...thanks for letting me "lead the way" on the M1 so I could control the speed...very good of you  :xd:

Great pics you posted mate. Yep that Green Estate really caught my eye too and as for the Yellow Mexico...what a car !... I would be perfectly happy to live with those spots :D

Glad you got your bearings sorted with Flickr now...aint it so much better than photo-fuck-it

Hmmm...I wonder if that RAC chap managed to find the Orange Focus he got called out to.....
