9th Ace Cafe Capri meet 2015

Post by sheff »

Had a great day today at this meet. Good to catch up with Mark, John, Kris, calvin and Thatguy :D

Here's a quick video of one of the highlights of today on the return trip.

Photo's to follow

Here we go:

Picture of the iconic venue with a lacquer red 2.8 that we all know and love.

A close up of John's car

A few more Capri's
Image

A couple of menacing V8's
Image

The late arrivals area..... Yes I got lost :banghead:
Image

I don't normally like body kits but I like these. The car on the left travelled from Sheffield  175 miles there and 175 back!
Image

And a close up... Cossie engine in it.

Mark and John next to Marks Lovely Brooklands
Image

A lovely Red 2.8 that joined Me and Mark on the way home for bit

Love this car!
Image

Looks good from behind too
Image

An immaculate 3.0 JPS
Image

Triple Webbers look great on a 3 litre

Image

A really good example of a MK2
Image

A couple of Brooky's
Image

I now want a MK1...... There was a very good turn out of MK1's here

Welldone Kris and Calvin you did a great job of organising the day... Loving those new wheels :D
Image

A nice blue paint job not sure if it was a Ford option. Andrew to confirm

A few parked across the road

On the road.... said 1.6GT on the side but I think that was a bit misleading

Last but not least

All the best

Hi John,
It sounded so much better in real life, unfortunately the camera couldn't handle the noise. Me and Mark are trying to plan our next trip out to incorporate "The Tunnel" I will try positioning the camera better next time.
Great to see you again today.

All the best

Hi all,

Mark, nearly forgot about the wheel refurb place. Like I say, just outside Hemel in Apsley,
maxpowder.co.uk
Sounds the business and same day service.... Saves sending them off and then chewing your finger nails waiting for them to come back. Like I say, I've not used them yet, but will do possibly come winter this year... All the best, cheers....

John....

Hi Neil.

Wow ! What brilliant photos. Thanks mate. Nice one :applaud:

All day at work I was "wondering" how it was going, now with your photos I need not wonder any more. Some stunning Capri,s mate.

A massive mention for all the forum Capri's as already said by Andrew. All looking tremendous. Nice one chaps :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:

Neil don't those triple webbers look so "proper" on that 3.0...fantastic ! Jeepers imagine seeing those boys from Sheffield looming up in your rear view mirror...what a sight that would be

Thanks again Neil. Great pics indeed. Really enjoyed looking through them...a few times now and as said you boys really turned out in style mate. Your cars must have all got loads of well deserved attention :D

And your video is absolutely brilliant mate ! What a great sound...had the volume up full blast much to Mrs F's anger...but I don't care

Nice one Neil and glad you and Mark had a good trip up and back. Hope to catch up soon

All the best

Nick

Must catch up again before the end of the Summer. Mark and I were talking about trying to fit a Queens Square and Jolly Farmer meet in. Perhaps you and John could join us??

Neil,
Far be it for me to be a nerd......if it's a Ford colour it looks a bit like cobalt blue, but that wouldn't have been on the options list in 1985, as it was last used in '81. Of course, if anyone else has a different idea about the shade of blue...

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi,
€100 works out as £70 over here. In my opinion, that's not much to pay for what would be an amazing day out. Do it! :D

Andrew,
Your not a nerd! You just know a lot about Cars in general...... I see you more as "The Guru" :D
It didn't look like Cobalt blue in the flesh, so I'd say it was probably non standard.
However this is how I remember Cobalt Blue
Image
It was a nice colour, but I said to John and Mark at the time it didn't seem in keeping with the car. It was more of a colour that would have suited a later car like a MK4 Escort IMO.

Hi Neil,
It's difficult to tell with photographs on a PC because of the colour variation of using different monitors.
Looking at it again, you're right, it does look like a later colour that's perhaps more suited to a contemporary car.
If it is a Ford colour, I wonder if it's performance blue?

Cheers Rob,
It's a great meet, I would certainly recommend you get along one day. It's quite a long drive for me but that was part of the enjoyment, except when I was sat in traffic on the M25 going home :banghead: But get on the A roads and it becomes a great day again :D

All the best
