CCI National May 2015
Hi All,
I had a fantastic day at the National today, and met some of the great folks from this forum. The standard of the cars was excellent, it was a real treat to be able to look around them and to chat to the owners.
Here are some of my photos from the day.
I'll start with the cars that belong to the forum members.
John's (taff40ish) 2.8 injection, looking resplendent in it's lacquer red paintwork. A gold medal winner! Well done, John!
This is Ian's (mellow-yellow) daily driver 2.0 Laser, note BMW headlight conversion. Nice to meet you, Ian, and I couldn't take my eyes off my mirror on the way back. Your car looks amazing!
Martin's (martinc92) absolutely breathtaking 2.8 special.
Stunning from every angle.
And here's that gorgeous interior. It's another gold medal standard car, and well deserved. A pleasure to meet you and your family, Martin.
garelli-rider's Mk2 1600S.
If I remember rightly, this is the car that won first place in the Mk3 concours competition.
Stunning Mk 1 3 litre.
Oyster gold 3.0 Ghia.
Turbo Technics 2.8 Special.
As you would imagine, some stunning condition 280s were there.
This is an unusual Janspeed turbo 3 litre. 1 of only 4 made, according to the owner.
This 3.0S was jaw-droppingly beautiful in cobalt blue.
Black paint with gold wheels is a stunning combination.
White with a Kat kit.
Nice wheels.
Black with bodykit and spoiler.
Stunning black 3.0S.
2.8 with RGA kit.
Very nice, but I think it's fair to say that it divided opinion.
Another nice Mk1.
JPS 1.6 in ultra-rare white.
V8 beast sounded awesome!
Ooh, I like this!
One of the nicest lasers there.
Looking mean with black headlight covers.
Especially on an X-pack.
Nice car, but personally I'm not sure about these wheels fitted to a Mk1.
Another superb 280.
Absolutely immaculate in every way.
Yet another stunning 3.0S
Beautiful Ghia.
Don't the Injections look fantastic in black?
Amazing condition and it looked fantastic in gold.
Another nice Mk2 in an unusual colour.
And finally, a lovely low-mileage Laser. This is the car that dan the capri fan arrived in.
I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
All the best,
Andrew.

I'm glad I put the £20 note under my windscreen wiper for bribing the judges!
Keep up the excellent work on your own car, and well done again!

I can imagine....although all the cars looked to be of show quality Your engine bay looks great if the rest of the car looks like that I'm keeping mine in the Garage
Looking forward to next year, although driving/travelling any distance now really takes it out of me ....OLD

Hi,pbar wrote: The spoiler on that Janspeed 3.0 is very unusual, what is that?
The rear spoiler is very striking, isn't it?
Apparently, as I understood it, the car was one of four cars that Ford sent to Janspeed for development. Possibly for evaluation for a production run that never came to fruition, I think. Possibly an intended similar arrange to that Ford and Turbo Technics later had with the 2.8. The spoiler was fitted by Janspeed during the research and development process.
Presumably the project was abandoned due to the intended introduction of the 2.8 and the subsequent deletion of the 3.0 from the range?
All the best,
Andrew.

Hi All,
Well, sorry its been a while till I got time to show these few Photo's of the Great Day out, (Or afternoon if your like me and turned up late...) but I hope you agree with me, they are worth waiting for.
So, For Andrews Gold award, which was very well deserved, here we go,
Andrew holding his GOLD AWARD....
I'll just tag mine in here......
Now, back to Andrew and the Car which won him the GOLD and as some of you have said, if the Outside is as clean as under the Bonnet, well, heres the proof, it is.....
An absolute credit to you Andrew, all the hours of Love you have poured into this, really do show.... So here's one of you driving off into the Sunset with your Trophy....
OK then, maybe not quite driving into the Sunset, more driving across the field at the end of a Great Day out. Fantastic to catch up with you all, Andrew, Ian, Dan etc, etc.... All the very best till the next show, cheers,
John...

Hi Nick,
All the best,
Andrew.
I'm pleased that you enjoyed viewing the photos. I tried to capture most of the best and interesting cars, especially as you, unfortunately, couldn't be there in person as you were knee-deep in assembly instructions and small packets of screws and wooden dowels!Fordoholic Nick wrote:What a simply stunning set if photos of some simply stunning Capris.

Congratulations, and very well deserved it was too! Having seen your roman bronze 1.6S in the flesh, I'm not surprised you achieved a gold standard award. Although it's a shame the car was behind the cordon, as I would have loved an up close look. Maybe another time....
Now we're up to four gold awards for forum members. Are there any more out there?
All the best,
Andrew.

The standard of capri's were excellent, so it goes to show how good these members cars are.
Pleasure meeting up with you all, cheers Andrew for the car share. Really am amazed at how much time & effort some people are willing to put in to make their cars as good as those on show. A great day out, would definitely go again.
Cheers,
Rob.
