CCI National May 2015

Post by Andrew 2.8i »

Hi All,
I had a fantastic day at the National today, and met some of the great folks from this forum. The standard of the cars was excellent, it was a real treat to be able to look around them and to chat to the owners.
Here are some of my photos from the day.

I'll start with the cars that belong to the forum members.

John's (taff40ish) 2.8 injection, looking resplendent in it's lacquer red paintwork. A gold medal winner! Well done, John!
Image
Image

This is Ian's (mellow-yellow) daily driver 2.0 Laser, note BMW headlight conversion. Nice to meet you, Ian, and I couldn't take my eyes off my mirror on the way back. Your car looks amazing!
Image

Martin's (martinc92) absolutely breathtaking 2.8 special.
Image
Image

Stunning from every angle.
Image

And here's that gorgeous interior. It's another gold medal standard car, and well deserved. A pleasure to meet you and your family, Martin.
Image

garelli-rider's Mk2 1600S.
Image

If I remember rightly, this is the car that won first place in the Mk3 concours competition.
Image

Stunning Mk 1 3 litre.
Image

Oyster gold 3.0 Ghia.
Image

Turbo Technics 2.8 Special.
Image

As you would imagine, some stunning condition 280s were there.
Image

This is an unusual Janspeed turbo 3 litre. 1 of only 4 made, according to the owner.
Image
Image

This 3.0S was jaw-droppingly beautiful in cobalt blue.
Image
Image

Black paint with gold wheels is a stunning combination.
Image

White with a Kat kit.
Image
Image

Nice wheels.
Image

Black with bodykit and spoiler.
Image

Stunning black 3.0S.
Image
Image

2.8 with RGA kit.
Image

Very nice, but I think it's fair to say that it divided opinion.
Image
Image
Image

Another nice Mk1.
Image
Image

JPS 1.6 in ultra-rare white.
Image
Image

V8 beast sounded awesome!
Image
Ooh, I like this!
Image

One of the nicest lasers there.
Image

Looking mean with black headlight covers.
Image

Especially on an X-pack.
Image

Nice car, but personally I'm not sure about these wheels fitted to a Mk1.
Image

Another superb 280.
Image

Absolutely immaculate in every way.
Image
Image

Yet another stunning 3.0S
Image
Image

Beautiful Ghia.
Image

Don't the Injections look fantastic in black?
Image

Amazing condition and it looked fantastic in gold.
Image

Another nice Mk2 in an unusual colour.
Image

And finally, a lovely low-mileage Laser. This is the car that dan the capri fan arrived in.
Image

I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for posting the extra photos.

I'm glad I put the £20 note under my windscreen wiper for bribing the judges! :D

Keep up the excellent work on your own car, and well done again!

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
I can imagine....although all the cars looked to be of show quality :applaud: :applaud: Your engine bay looks great if the rest of the car looks like that I'm keeping mine in the Garage

Looking forward to next year, although driving/travelling any distance now really takes it out of me  ....OLD :xd:

Hi,
The rear spoiler is very striking, isn't it?
Apparently, as I understood it, the car was one of four cars that Ford sent to Janspeed for development. Possibly for evaluation for a production run that never came to fruition, I think. Possibly an intended similar arrange to that Ford and Turbo Technics later had with the 2.8. The spoiler was fitted by Janspeed during the research and development process.

Presumably the project was abandoned due to the intended introduction of the 2.8 and the subsequent deletion of the 3.0 from the range?

All the best,
Andrew.

Wow! Wow! Wow!

What a simply stunning set if photos of some simply stunning Capris. Crikey the standard was superb to say the least. I really did miss out on a great day. The CCI were not exagerating when they say the best Capris in the country attend this....oh sorry and Wales too Andrew :)

Big congratulations to our forum Gold medal winners Andrew and John. I have been lucky to see both these 2.8i's in the flesh....even rode in Johns recently and they are both worthy winners indeed. Well done lads...but does this mean you guys will be ordering new "gold" standard forum t shirts

Well so many beautiful capris. Including the two forum capris mentioned already so many stunning capris. Love the Cobalt Blue 3.0S.. Wow ! Some cracking Lasers there too including that lovely one that Dan came in. And Martins 2.8i certainly looks breathtaking as Andrew said. That interior is too die for. Simply STUNNING !

Thanks for the photos. Really really enjoyed looking through them. What a day to have missed.... :crying:

And great pics of our forum Gold Winners too which have just been posted as i write this....nice one :applaud:

All the best chaps

I'm pleased that you enjoyed viewing the photos. I tried to capture most of the best and interesting cars, especially as you, unfortunately, couldn't be there in person as you were knee-deep in assembly instructions and small packets of screws and wooden dowels!
Fordoholic Nick wrote:Well done lads...but does this mean you guys will be ordering new "gold" standard forum t shirts
Thanks, Nick. You've just reminded me that I forgot to wear my new forum t-shirt that I bought. Never mind, there will be other occasions...

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi,
Congratulations, and very well deserved it was too! Having seen your roman bronze 1.6S in the flesh, I'm not surprised you achieved a gold standard award. Although it's a shame the car was behind the cordon, as I would have loved an up close look. Maybe another time....

Now we're up to four gold awards for forum members. Are there any more out there?

All the best,
Andrew.

Well that's 4 happy forum members and well deserved of Gold they were too :applaud:
The standard of capri's were excellent, so it goes to show how good these members cars are.
Pleasure meeting up with you all, cheers Andrew for the car share. Really am amazed at how much time & effort some people are willing to put in to make their cars as good as those on show. A great day out, would definitely go again.
Cheers,
Rob.
