Hi everyone,
Great meet this month, with lots of fantastic cars and loads of people there. Unfortunately, even though it was cold the sun was shining brightly and was low in the sky, so a lot of my photos didn't come out too well. I hope you enjoy looking at them anyway.

Hi Andrew,
Impressive turn out of Cars despite the Cold Weather.
That must be a long round trip for you, Fair Play

Did you take the Capri?

Hi Andy,
Yes, it's about 2 hours and 120 miles each way. I do like this informal meet, so I think the travelling is worth it!
I must confess, I took my daily driver. The Capri will be venturing out next month if there's no salt on the roads by then.

Good Call!
Shame the meet isn't on for longer really, would be more inclined to go have a look.

Hi Andy,
Yes, an extra hour or two longer would give a little more time to look at the cars in greater detail and chat to some of the owners. It probably suits a lot of the local attendees though, as a few hours in the morning is much less of a commitment than is needed for a full day show.

Once again Andrew, a great turn out, some great looking cars turn up to this meet, going to have to make the trip, be a while until we take the capri but may go in my sons restored mini. Thanks for posting.
Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob,
Delays with the Capri resto? As long as it's ready for the Summer, that's the main thing. If you want to convoy to a future meet, let me know and I can meet you at junction 34 or 33, or whatever. If not, I'll see you down there one day!
All the best,
Andrew.

Love that white Porsche. If I had the time, inclination and (above all!) money, it would possibly be the only car which might have a (very remote) chance of stealing some of my love for the Capri. I think many will disagree, but I think that white is a classic Porsche colour which suits it well, just as it does for the Capri.

Hi Paul,
I agree, that design Porsche is, for me, the definitive classic Porsche, especially in 930 turbo flavour. Unfortunately it is likely to remain a distant dream..
Sorry I could not get any better photos of the car as the sun was in an awkward position behind me, and was casting my shadow over it.
Andrew.

Rob,
I often convoy with my mate in his restored 1960 mini seven. Come and park near us if you see us down there. Your son's car and my mate's car might make a good photograph together!
Andrew.

Yes, a few delays with body repairs, but will be ready for summer ( hopefully ..) . Well up for a convoy mate, looking forward to it, may even make next month if you're going, have to check our shifts.

Thanks, Rob.

Well we can dream! Yes I know, it's a thing of beauty isn't it, such a good looking car.

Hi Andrew,

Some great Photo’s again of this gathering you make it to. Must try and get over some time.
Got to love the MKI Golf GTI, also the Early White Manta Berlinetta (Or is it a good Cavalier GLS Coupe??) As already admired, the White Porsche too… Too many to list, but I think a Special Mention to the guy who got the TR7 out and made it to the gathering as well, was he an Auto Electrician do you think??? On to the modern stuff, just gotta love the Dodge Challenger I think it is!!!
The only one I would be unsure about is the Probe!!! Maybe these are now loved??? Not for me to judge though, I guess in a few more years I might well be admiring these too… Great Pics, cheers for sharing… All the best,
John…

P.S. T-shirt’s on standby in approx 3 Months’ time!!! :drive:

Hi John,
Glad you like the photos, as you say lots of great cars there. I thought I would select the photo of the Probe for inclusion as they appear to be getting widely accepted as classics now. Also, they're a rare sight and somebody might actually like them (joke!).
Taff40ish wrote: also the Early White Manta Berlinetta (Or is it a good Cavalier GLS Coupe??)
This angle will answer that question:

My mate, who I went with, is Manta mad having owned plenty in his time. He was raving about the condition of this one. I must admit, it was in stunning condition without a patch of rust.
Taff40ish wrote: I think a Special Mention to the guy who got the TR7 out and made it to the gathering as well, was he an Auto Electrician do you think???
 I would say he must be some kind of miracle worker!
Taff40ish wrote:On to the modern stuff, just gotta love the Dodge Challenger I think it is!!!
Yep, first one I've ever seen on the road. It sounded as good as it looks.

Mine's all ready to go! Looking forward to it.
All the best,
Andrew.

Rob,
Sounds great! I'll be going if the weather is OK on the day. Not much point going in the rain anyway as the turnout isn't as good.

Hi Andrew,

Yep, a Very good looking Manta there, (As mentioned before, if only Henry had done the Frameless Doors as on the Capri!!!) I can understand your mate getting excited over this!! S Reg, that’s what 77 / 78, I had a Cortina on a T, which was I seem to remember 78 / 79…. So the Manta is 37 Years Young approx, Wow…

Yes, I just caught up with the T’Shirt mention the other day, can’t apologise enough for missing this when posted, but I think I'm possibly the only one who’s is getting ‘Baggier’. Swimming 3 to 4 times a Week and 6Kgs down…. I feel a Wager coming on maybe!!!

You got-a-love the American V8 Noise, wish I had heard it too…

All the best and Keep any New Show Pics coming please??? All the best,

John…

I do like the Manta, I test drove a Black GTE in the late 80's, but was underwhelmed with the performance of it for a 2.0.
Think I had a XR3i at the time? which was a lot quicker (This was a time when Speed was everything  )

Would have one now though as I'm Captain Slow (ish)... :D

Well done John 6kg eh... I've lost about the same since first week January but no Swimming etc, just cut right back on the Calories
and no RHUBARB PIES for me......

:sorry: Another thread gone off topic

Blimey John, are you training for the Olympics or what? Congratulations on the weight loss, it's lucky you've got the t-shirt with your name on, otherwise we might not recognise you!
See you at Simply Ford,
Andrew.

Hi Andy,
I'm a fan of the Manta shape too. Although for me it definitely has to be the coupe and not the hatch.
Another car that is rarely seen on the road these days, sadly.
