Footman James Show, Manchester
I went to this show yesterday with our club. Only one other Capri there outside of the club, but thought I would put up some better images of the beautifully restored 2 tone grey early 2.8 from the club
We also had a Mk2 2.0S on stand belonging to the organiser of the show
There were some lovely examples of other marques
Not my favourite car but can appreciate how well it has been looked after
Beautiful Cavalier that was featured in 'James May's Cars of the People'. It is just about the most immaculate car I have ever seen
My mate that works on the Capri with me was just given one of these which he is restoring. You don't see so many and not everybody's cup of tea!
Really wanted one of these when I was 17
80s cars featured very heavily
Row of Escorts
There was a short rally track set up around the Event City venue. The RS Escort made light work of it but this chap argued with a concrete block
And for a bit of fun

Hi Mike,
Looks like you had a great day at what appears to be a fantastic show full of beautiful cars. Thanks for sharing the photos for us to drool over, especially the Capris and the Quattros.
To give all the owners credit, every single car in your club looks immaculate.
You must have been trembling with excitement at the sight of the Allegro, as the picture is a bit shaky!
All the best,
Andrew.

I am in awe of this car. Simply stunning.MS Injection wrote:but thought I would put up some better images of the beautifully restored 2 tone grey early 2.8 from the club

These cars are quite a rare sight on the roads on the roads these days. Do I also spy a sparkling red Chevette parked behind the Cavalier? An even rarer sight, very seldom seen even at classic car shows. I do believe the red car parked to the right is a limited edition Cavalier Calibre (not a Calibra!). I'll get my anorak...............MS Injection wrote:Beautiful Cavalier that was featured in 'James May's Cars of the People'. It is just about the most immaculate car I have ever seen

I was chatting to one of the Quattro owners - the prices of them are soaring at the momentpeers.dupp wrote:Hi Mike,

I love it too. He made an incredible job of it. Chap is a mechanic with bodywork experience so was able to buy it for pocket change and restore it to champagne standard on a lemonade budgetpeers.dupp wrote:I am in awe of this car. Simply stunning.

Correct - it was the Chevette owners' club but there were some Cavaliers with thempeers.dupp wrote:These cars are quite a rare sight on the roads on the roads these days. Good assortment of classic cars on display. Nice one!.
Re: Footman James Show, Manchester
There were a couple of other non-CCC Capris at the show too, my Space Grey 2.8i fully restored to my taste and the 280 Brooklands, which won car of the show for a pre 1990 vehicle.

My bad and my apologies - I did see them and entirely forgot about it. If I had been there on Sunday, and therefore seen the prize awarded, I would have remembered! I was wondering what type your car was.

Hi,
Brilliant Pic's, cheers for sharing them. I must say, the Grey 2 Tone 2.8, is a cracking Colour... Cracking looking car too.... As is the new one just posted too.
I think there's a small Austin All'agro revival happening at the moment, I saw some at a show earlier this year and this is the second time recently I've seen them on this site... Actually to be serious, great to see people taking such care over these and other makes n models. Just got to love the Audi Quatro's too, cheers for sharing what looks and sounds like a great day out,
John...

Cheers Mike for posting, grey 2.8 does look good as does that mk2 2.0S, I've seen quite a few capris at shows this year but not seen a mk2 yet. I'm a big fan of the 'S' capris in mk2 or 3 guise, the space grey S look 2.8 looks stunning with those polished wheels too.
How's your car coming along, looking good so far in your build up pics.

I really love that car. He spent a lot of time on it.Freelanderfan wrote:...grey 2.8 does look good
Allegros are getting everywhere now, seen them at a few shows. It's great to see such a variety of 70s and 80s cars around. The look on the faces of kids under 15 in my family when they see them never ceases to amaze me - they start asking why all cars look similar now. Good point I tell them!
Almost finished. Top coat went on today, picking up on Friday. Few bits to bolt back on after that, and it's all systems goFreelanderfan wrote:How's your car coming along, looking good so far in your build up pics

Hi Mick
He did right by it. Thoroughly restored body, NOS front valance, excellent paint job. Had 3 inch exhaust so was deafening. Glad I was able to put a picture up of your former motor!
He sold the car earlier this year, so not sure of it's whereabouts anymore.
Cheers
Mike
