Queen Square, Bristol 12/10/2014

Post by Andrew 2.8i »

Hi,

I was determined to get the injector out for one last outing before being parked up for the winter. :( Where better to go than my favourite meet in Queen Square? Lots of the same faces in attendance, so I haven't posted repeat photos. Here are some of my highlights, hope you enjoy.

First the Fords.
Stunning low-mileage 280. I had a good poke around this one, looking for ideas for mine!
Image

Maybe there aren't many of these in red, or maybe I just don't get out much.
Image

I love the mark 3 escort, so here's a nice RS Turbo series 1.
Image

And an RS1600i
Image

GT40 replica.
Image

Still a serious bit of kit though.
Image

Mustang Mach 1.
Image

Not a spec of dust to be seen anywhere!
Image

V8 Track day car.
Image

A wide variety of cars here today.
Image

McLaren 12C in a gorgeous colour. For some reason, it's on trade plates.
Image

This could not be any more lower than it is. It looks like it's got no wheels or the suspension has collapsed. I was stood near it when it drove off, and I was expecting the suspension to be raised up on hydraulics to a more sensible ride height for driving. But no, that's how low it drives! Madness!
Image

I don't believe the local Kwik-Fit stock this tyre size!
Image

This was really nice. A rare sight these days, too.
Image

Austin A40. Totally standard as far as I could see! ;)
Image

Believe me, it was cold this morning. It takes a brave man to drive this on a day like today.
Image

A good display of Yank tanks, like this Buick.
Image

That's it for shows this year. Looking forward to getting out and about, and hopefully seeing some of you guys, next year.

Andrew.

Nice Pics there Andrew.

Think that 280 was at a show in Taunton recently it's done 40 to 50k? Was talking to the owner he got it from Essex.
He was going to buy my car before I got hold of it, but he went for this instead :D

Andy,
Yes, that's the one. I can't remember the mileage exactly, around 48K now, I think.
I've seen some really hanging 280s, but this one was very nice indeed.

Ah, thanks for the extra info. As you say, a really good job on the respray.
I didn't get a chance to ask questions because there is so much to see (over 100 cars at a guess) but people begin to leave at 10 and it's all over by 11. So if I want to get around to look at everything I can't stop and chat to many people to get to know more about their cars.

Hi Andrew,

Some Great Pic's there as ever Andrew, Cheers for posting. Love the 1st one of the 280, then of course the red RS2000, I will say I have seen a few in Red, but Black and White seem the most popular followed by the Yellow, from what I've seen at different shows this year. But my favorite, must be the Mustang, wow, cracking looking motor. Cheers again for posting, all the best,

John....

John,
There were two Mustang mach ones there that arrived in convoy. They made quite an entrance, I can tell you! This was the other one, which was just as nice.

The beauty with Queen Square is that it is surrounded on all sides by four storey buildings. If the drivers give the cars some welly (as quite a few do) the sound reverberates around the whole square. The chap in the GT40 gave it a bootfull when he was leaving and the sound was to die for! :)

If you are interested, there are photos of every single car on the Flickr page. Enjoy!

Rob,

That sounds like a great plan. Look forward to it!
How's your car coming along? I can't wait to see the work you've done to it since I last saw it.

All the best,
Andrew.

Car is slowly being stripped down, it's going in for the cutting out & welding in of new metalwork on first week of November. Think we're almost there with parts collecting. Looking forward to getting bodywork prepped ready for paint, hoping not to break any trim ..
Cheers, Rob.

Hi Andrew,

Yet again fella some fantastic pics of some fantastic classics. Those mk3 escorts look awesome. And bet those Mustangs sounded as good as they looked. You should have posted one last pic of your fantastic 2.8i too mate to end your show season. Always good to see that too in all its glory ! I would definitely love try to pop over the M4 next year to attend one of these Queens Square shows Andrew. Really have liked the pics you have been posting up of the shows you been to this year. John been to some cracking ones too. Very sad when the shows start slowing up...time to think how best to get capri through the coming winter months :(

But having all the expert advice on tap here is a big help... :D

Thanks again for the pics..

All the best mate,

Nick

Hi Nick,
As you say, it's a sad time when the show season comes to an end. At least it gives us all time to do those jobs that we're just too busy to do during the summer.

Hopefully you can make it to a meet next year, it'd be great to have a few of the capris from the forum there.
Next year I'm going to try to get to one or two of the great shows you and John have been to this year. I also have enjoyed all the photos that have been posted from the various shows, and events in a different part of the country make a refreshing change of scenery with cars that are local to that particular area.

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi,

Yes, me too! Here's another angle to drool over.

It's a Tornado kit and it looks very much like the genuine article. A lot of car for £40K + VAT.
