Hi chaps,

Had a great afternoon spent lying underneath B112 ! I had been meaning to paint up the leaf springs so thought as Mrs F was at work what better time :)

As title I started Pt 1 of my 'Project Underside Fine Detail" ( PUFD)

I will work my way from rear to front underneath tidying up all the jobs I did not want to bother Tickover with, and gives me the satisfaction of doing them myself. So first up today was the leaf springs and couple of other bits. The springs have been totally transformed and look great !

Here's a few pics of how I got on. More of PUFD to follow...

Was a bit nervous reversing up these as was on my own. Have done it a couple of times now but still always really nervous of shooting off the ends...but i hand a mirror to help !!

All the best

Looking good Nick!
Only you would have a mirror in the garage

Spent an hour in the garage this afternoon, although nothing as exciting....Just moving the chest freezer and racking around to make more room and a new space for the Pepperpots :)

Hi Nick,
B112 looks terrific, as always.
Like Andy, I'm not surprised to hear that you've got a mirror in the garage. Ready to take to the car shows, eh? :D
What paint did you use for the springs? The colour looks like a good match for the original colour springs used by Ford.

Andrew.

PS. Did you have a drink last night? And what happened to Keith Flint? :)

Thanks Andy :)

I am really pleased how the leafs turned out. Really tidies up the underside a treat but as said its only Pt.1 of PUFD

That mirror does come in handy for practical jobs mate...ermm...honestly...

Very exciting re your peppers mate. Are you going to fit these to your Injection straight away and have the sevens for spare ?? Either way your Capri really is a proper stunner mate. I really like the peppers though. You don't tend to see them as much these days, but your Capri looks soooooo good with the sevens too. Its a nice dilemma to have. Some have "winter" and "summer" wheels ???

All the best mate

Nick

Hi Andrew,

Thanks very much indeed mate. As I said to Andy I am really happy how they turned out. You try to visualise in your head how it might look so its a great feeling of satisfaction when thankfully its as nice for real !! But still a way to go and lots more to tick off my list of jobs to do, but I would have it no other way

The mirror in my garage is getting almost as famous as your sofa in your garage Andrew  Yep if I bring the mirror to shows I will have to take the ramps too and some planks of wood ...hmmm....

Re the paint I used mate. I got lots of recommendations a while back on fb to use Hammerite. Lots have used it and its done the job grand for them. The colour I used was Hammerite Hammered Silver and really does look very nice indeed. Up close and personal you get the 'hammered' look which really suits them, but from afar yep they do look spot on !!

Thanks again mate,

PS Re the Keith Flint joke, I had second thoughts in case it caused offence mate so removed it myself...shall I repost it ??

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your kind words mate. Well as up-skirting has become illegal I cant carry my mirror around with me anymore so I will use it for automotive use only

Cheers fella

Hi Nick,
I got the 7 spokes as I had a good deal on them, and I already had almost new tyres to go on them. I did think about getting set of tyres for the Pepperpots and maybe selling the 15's, but I have decided to keep them on until tyres are worn and then make a decision. Sensible to keep the 7 spokes as tyre choice and price is much better.

:agree: both style of wheels look great on the Capri
