OK people - so the next flourish of work.

So these are the clips that go under the door sill trim and keep the loom tidily against the seam weld along the bottom door sill.

As you can see, the 3 clips on the right side are the best of the lot. In fact, of the 5 along each door ledge, 2 had completely disintegrated and 3 were OK, but had seen life. They sit there under the trim, in the damp and on wet days, probably a bit more moisture and just rot away.

So brand new clips and brand new screws. The screws fasten the plastic door ledge trim down. If I am tidying up the area, I might as well replace those screws.

And now to place them all on.

What I did was carefully prise off the old clips with a screwdriver. Then smother the new clip in grease, cover the weld seam where they grip also in grease, makes sure it grabs the loom properly and then push down on the clip onto the seam. The process is simple, just a bit fiddly as there is a lot of loom (especially the driver's side) to grab. I did actually have have to finish off by knocking the clip home with a wooden mallet. The new clips grip like a vice.

The same treatment for the passenger side. I cleaned the door sill trim piece, both sides and fastened down both with the new screws.

So next - brand new seat bolts to fasten my brand new seats down. As they said at school in exams / tests, compare and contrast

And now my new seats. Woohoo! The most money this car has had spent on it in nearly 30 years, I reckon.

New seats, new seat bolts, new trim clips. Flippin eck - it probably thinks most of the last 25 years of Christmas has come to it in one go!

All the dashboard back in. Also fitted LED dash bulbs and clock bulbs for a little flare and a little better colour.

Tried to clean the 30 yr old footwell mats. Think I am going to need to find some retro Ford mats as they have faded and worn over the years. The lighter patch there is only where that bit had dried and as you see, they have faded. I'll find some somewhere.

No I didn't, Jason. That's for the next big project. Kit off and see what mess the whole sill is in. I though there was little point in me fiddling on a minor scale now when the whole thing is being pulled apart hopefully in the next year or 2.

The picture makes it look more sinister than it really is. But now having got all of the interior back together, this will be the benchmark for the exterior. So I won't be putting up with those blemishes you pointed out. It's just that there is a much much bigger picture there.

Thanks Jason.

The bodykit will be removed because I don't like it. It was fine when placed on 30 yrs ago - all the rage back then. Looks a bit stupid today and doesn't do the car justice, IMHO.

You'll see what I mean on my opening post / video.

Anyway, all the exterior is for another year - not too far away, I hope.

Thanks Nick. Yes, it is all starting to come together.

About time - should have been done when I took over the car 15 years ago.

So apart from some mechanical bits - rear springs / shocks as they have never been replaced and a few other bits - that's it in terms of tidying up for the time being.

A restoration toe has been dipped in the water, if you like.

The next one is the big one - the restoration of the outside. That might be when the budget says "Yes". Possibly a year or so away from that one.
