Tickover Drive Train Refurbished

Post by Fordoholic Nick »

Hi all,

Had a great day today. Went over to pick up B112 from Tickover after the work they been doing to the drive train over the last week. Wow ! When Clive ran through what he had done it was amazing the amount of work he put in.

Jason really kindly popped over to meet me at the station to drop me over to Tickover. Always great to see him and had a great chat. Thanks very much Jason. Very much appreciated mate.

So the work Tickover done...

Rear axle stripped down. Diff serviced with new oil, cover and gasket. While he had the axle off he noticed the wheel bearings deffo needed replacing so he went ahead and replaced these. Rear brake back plates and rear axle cleaned up and repainted.

Propshaft completely refurbished to as new with new centre bearing, ends, rubbers etc. It really does look brand new !! Prop balanced.

Gearbox removed and checked and found to be in a good condition...phew ! New oil/gasket. Outer casing stripped back and painted before refitting. It looks great !!

While removing the gearbox he found the rear end bracket that holds it in place was a Sierra one which had been 'adapted' to fit but was an inch out of place causing the prop to run at an angle. Clive replaced this bracket with the correct one.

Got him to check/adjust the tappet valves which again he said were good and nothing to worry about. Thank god I use that Millers VSPe additive. It must be doing some good !

B112 runs really nice now with all this work done and 'that' noise has gone :)

So I have only managed a few pics myself but Clive did say he took some too and will email them over to me so for now here's a couple..

So I am really pleased with all the superb work that Clive did on B112. She looks so much better underneath but most importantly I now have the peace of mind that the drive train has been completely overhauled. A big tick off the to do list :D

All the best

Nick

Hi Nick,
It's clear from the photos what a superb job Clive has done on B112. It's now as stunning underneath as it is on top and under the bonnet! You're going to have a lot more to keep polished now........but B112 is worth it! :D
It's good to hear that it drives much better now too. From what you were telling me at South Mimms I thought that the noise was nothing more than the prop centre bearing as I have experienced an identical noise on mine. Now you have the peace of mind that B112 is a vision of perfection all over (and under)!

Cheers,
Andrew.

Hi Chaps,

I just received a couple of pictures from Clive at Tickover that I asked him to take while he was doing the refurb. He took a few pics of B112 while he was doing the gearbox and he took a couple of the prop after it had been done. He had already refitted the axle by the time I had remembered to ask for pics but I was grateful for the few he did take...

B112 drives alot better now and deffo has a more responsive feel about her now all the work has been done, especially to the prop and axle ! Money deffo well spent !!

All the best

Nick

I've never really had any dealings with them, but they do sound like great people to do business with.

Looks like they’ve done a great job! Looks smart!
Are their prices quite reasonable? Was considering asking them to tackle a couple of jobs for me.

Cheers Steve. Yep just as Jason said they are very reasonable mate as they really do a fantastic job. No job is too big or small for that matter. Great guys very friendly and boy they know there stuff. Its becsuse of this they get a lot of work done per hour so you know whatever their labour charge its going to be 100% genuine. Steve they really have done great work on B112 and I am getting them to fit my new fuel tank and fittings after christmas. Just as Jason said they do tend to be booked up a few weeks in advance so get onto them asap if you want the jobs done soon. Maybe for smaller jobs they might fit you in quicker. They are only about 5 mins from the Dartford Crossing. There are not many people I trust to work on B112 but like John (taff) they are one of them I do. All the best mate and good luck with your jobs need doing :)
