Hi all,
Well I managed to get down to B112 today to get a bit more done with my boot resto. Been finding it difficult to spare the time recently but I have been prepping some bits up in the flat. I have been refurbishing my Ford jack and its finally finished...just waiting for the little yellow warning decal to arrive to stick on it then its set to be fitted back into the boot. I refurbished the rear washer bottle and pump and replaced the old filthy tubing for nice new tubing and plumbed it in today. Had painted the boot/spare wheel area a few weeks back so its had lots of time to harden before fitting back the new 15" spare...after giving the whole area a quick polish with Auto glym of course...could not resist !! I cut some cord carpet to loosely lay in the spare wheel well so the wheel sits on this. l also replaced the old landing eye plate for a nice clean one. Still need to fit the new tailgate seal which I will do soon and then decide on the boot floor
So that's where I am at so here's a few pictures...
First up here is the washer pump before resto

I have ordered a new boot colour code label as mine is incomplete. Might fit the new one alongside the original but not sure yet.

Nice work Nick
I wish I was that committed
What are the chances of you using that jack now it's been painted
Have you got weak tailgate struts as I see a white pole positioned accordingly
Did you fit the 'Capri Laser' dash mat too

Thanks very much Andy. Been taking my time doing this but been worth it for the results. Mate funny you mentioned the jack as am gonna buy a secondhand one to have in the back so i dont have to use this restored one. Jason said just ring the RAC if i get a flat
Neil very kindly gave me some tailgate struts at The Ace which worked great but my bracket is not holding ! Got Tickover to weld it back a while back as a strut seized causing bracket to bend right off !! Its still not holding. Might have to get a section cut out from another tailgate inc bracket and get it welded on but the pole works grand for now. I being using a support for aged now so used to it. In fact just bought a nice chrome one for shows
Cheers mate
Nick

Thanks Rob
Yep its turned out really nice mate. Even better than I had pictured in my head beforehand. I have some nos rubber straps for the jack so that can go back in too....will fit some carpet to replace tje old insulation stuff that was there before to stop it knocking but the new straps woll hold it very firmly in place !!
Then the floor......have a few ideas in my head so watch this space
But you know what this means dont you Rob...yep I will have my tailgate open at shows as well as the bonnet so I bought some great 25mm chrome tubing with rubber ends to use at shows for the bonnet and tailgate
All the best Rob

I bought some padlocks for mine as I won’t be opening my bonnet or boot within a mile of yours any time soon
Take care mate.

Hi all,
Well now I am back from Corsica
I finally had a chance to get down to the garage to finish a few little jobs on my boot resto. Nothing too exciting but as I started this thread I will see it through even if it makes you all
So, I fitted the refurbished jack with nos rubber straps which really holds it in place really firmly. I did however fit some pieces of carpet under the usual places where the jack is metal on metal to stop any rattles !
20181003_155143 by
nicholas bowler, on Flickr
20181003_134444 by
nicholas bowler, on Flickr
Then I fitted a new colour code replica label that I had made up which looks spot on...
20181003_154800 by
nicholas bowler, on Flickr
Then very reluctantly
I filled up the rear washer bottle with wash
I stuck a couple of bits of carpet underneath to stop any knocking/rattles !
20181003_154754 by
nicholas bowler, on Flickr
So finally a picture with all in place...
20181003_151111 by
nicholas bowler, on Flickr
And now a very big thanks to Jason who gave me a 2.8 boot floor he had spare. I desperately needed this to accommodate my new 15"spare wheel I now have in the boot so this was really appreciated !! I just need to give it a coat of paint but it fits spot on !!
20181003_131948 by
nicholas bowler, on Flickr
And finally the boot carpet back in place...
20181003_132248 by
nicholas bowler, on Flickr
So now I have finally finished the main resto on the boot I can turn my attention to a special boot floor I want to get made up for shows only !! I will use the floor that Jason kindly gave me as the 'daily use' floor and have this other one for when I display B112 at shows. I will of course keep you updated on what I decide to do but need to wait till I get B112 back from Tickover ( see other thread )before I embark on this little project
All the best
Nick

Just joking Nick!
Great work as always. You pay attention to the details and that makes your car one of the greats. Surely it must be in better condition now than when it left the factory. Nice!
Did the boot floor paint sticker come from Ian?
Fordoholic Nick wrote:Well now I am back from Corsica
Have you been to Corsica? I would have thought you'd have mentioned that before....

Hi Andrew,
Thanks very much for your very kind words mate. Very much aporeciated indeed
Yep, Its taken a while to get the boot done as decided to take my time doing it and trying to get the time recently was fairly hard too...especially as I went to Corsica
But I am really pleased how it turned out mate... dare I say it nicer than I had hoped
Andrew 2.8i wrote:Did the boot floor paint sticker come from Ian?.
Yes Andrew. Ian Evans. Think he went by Mellow Yellow on here before ??? But he is over on facebook and has helped me a few times recently. Terrific chap and really is the person to go for if anyone needs any decals/stickers made up. Jason bought one of these paint code stickers from him too the other day.
Thanks again Andrew
All the best
Nick
