Brake Drums

Post by Fordoholic Nick »

Hi chaps,

Nothing too exciting but yesterday I painted up my rear drums and fitted them back on today. I noticed that the new ones I fitted without painting had begun to show signs of the dreaded brown surface wear and as I had fitted nice new wheels this was doing them no justice. Anyhow here's a few pics...nothing too exciting !

Nothing serious but did not look very nice behind the wheels so a quick wire brushing...

All set for painting

Got a couple of plant pots...

To use as a painters stand as I was brush applying rather than spraying

Had a tin of this stuff on the shelf so thought might as well use it as its vht and crack resistant...and satin Black which is the finish I wanted...

So here's before

And After

Came up really well

Refitted today

And now look much better behind the wheels :D

As said nothing exciting but as I took a few pics I thought might as well share them. Funny that I seen Danny painted up his too whilst doing a great job of the underside of his Capri. I was toying with either silver or black but decided on black. I really like the silver finish Danny achieved too :)

All the best

Nick

Nice one Jason. Thanks. There is loads to do on B112 fella. Takes a nice photo but trust me I have a long list...but would have it no other way as it means I can always look forward to getting another job ticked off. Next Thurs is Suspension Day...this is a great one to hopefully tick off :)

Hi Nick,
Nice one! The black painted drums are a definite improvement over the old patinated look. :D

Andrew.

Looks good Nick, I was toying with the idea of painting mine black but stuck with silver, got to say I really like the black look! Might be tempted to go down that route next time they need a lick of paint
