Great project, this is one to follow, you've obviously done a fair bit already & working outside always makes it a lot harder with weather / motivation etc. Good luck with this, looking forward to seeing progress on it & another Capri saved. :goodluck:

Great work so far, and the engine looks fantastic!

Andrew.

Looks like a good project Tim. The car doesn't look too terrible a base to start with although it looks like it will need a bit of attention from you and your mig welder. The engine looks great, really neat job.

What colour do you have in mind for the car?

Thanks chaps, the colour is staying original Diamond white which is my fave colour on Capri's.
I did flirt with Signal Orange but put that on back burner to ponder.
She's having, as stated a new roof skin, shaved body mouldings, remote drivers mirror, rear wash wipe and over riders.
Lowered, 15" alloys or 16" Escort Cossie.
Maybe a turbo tail (undecided) black interior with Recaro's, short console etc
I've been collecting body panels, arches, wings, rear valance etc over time so its coming together.
Not sure of time scale because I have a busy life, but see how it goes.....had this particular Capri for over two years so far.
I love standard but I wanted to start with a car I could mildly mod and make mine.

My 3.0S is Diamond White and will stay that colour and I've also got to put a roof (non sunroof - not all 3.0S had a sunroof) on it, as well as spring hangers, sills, front and rear panels etc etc etc. It will be getting a vinyl roof and hopefully a turbo tail spoiler hopefully to look like the one on the home page of Capri Club website.

Just a thought, but you've got a fixed fan on your engine. Is there a reason for this as fitting a viscous fan will release a bit more power?

Re the fan Paul, it's simply as the engine came (out of a Granada).
It's pretty much ready to pop straight in but once it's in and the car is on the road my plan is to address things such as the viscous fan.
I have the viscous fan still on the 1600 so I'm going to mate it to a new water pump and plop it on, but I'm just trying to keep costs down as I have a shopping list as long as my dick (and that's fuggin long!!) :kebab:

On the subject of releasing a few horses, apart from twin choke Webber, Sportex, K&N ETC, any tips on squeezing a couple more out would be very welcome :deadhorse:

Hi Tim,

What a fantastic restoration mate. You really are cracking on with it mate to a very high

What a bleedin shame you lost all those pics of the strip down though...you must have been gutted fella :( :(

But the pics you are posting up for us now are brilliant ! Great choice you are keeping it White too Tim. Lovely colour for a Capri :D

That 205 Pinto is looking amazing mate...amazing !!! Superb work. I would love to get mine out and refurbished to this sort of standard. Cant wait to see more pics of this restoration mate and very excited to see the little mods you make along the way. Its gonna be one seriously nice Capri when finished. Keep up the excellent work Tim :applaud:

All the best

Nick

To give an idea of stance and wheel choice, this is my inspiration.
Imagine this in Diamond white with side mouldings, rear wash wipe and over riders removed, early mirrors, possible turbo tail and Laguna front splitter.

Hi,
Nice wheels, but the car rides too low for my tastes.
Are they 15", do you reckon?

Andrew.
