550 Nm is already a lot, you will probably have the most powerful 2.8 Cologne in the world if you succeed.

Just wondering should I swap that one for alloy one.

300bhb is awesome number from NA 3.0 Essex engine with those mods.If you rise compression ratio in Essex engine new forged rods are absolute must.
Like you have done in your case I assume, little bit longer rods and shorter pistons to rise compression ratio. In my case this car is for street drive use, so not going to use straight cut gearbox. I have MT-75 V6 hybrid that should be capable handling some power and torque with narrow tires (205F/225R wide tires) Extra power goes to smoke and thats fine with me. I have 3.09 rear axle ratio and balances nicely that 500-600nm torque to road, with quite less smoke than higher rear axle ratio. I don't know how much stock 2.8 V6 engine block can take but so far no problems. We will see if I get my new spare engine running in next winter looking for around 500/700 power flywheel output power from it.
I used that Burton gear for 5 years when the engine was at a lower spec (about 230bhp) and using 7000rpm. Only problem I had was due to it being helical cut, the cam I was using and heavy valve springs put a lot of axial thrust down the camshaft and wore the back of the cast thrust plate badly and put the cam and ignition timing out, had to make a steel one.

300bhp is about the limit when using original head castings, this is also what the front running Gp1 Capri's in the Goodwood Members Meeting Race are on.

Not sure the max a 2.8 block can take, but it's more compact than the Essex, and turbo bhp is kinder on a block than n/a bhp as it's the energy going into the block from high rpm that does the damage. Still 700 is a lot but as it's for the road you won't be using it every single gear change, look forward to hearing how you get on, always good to push the limits for research purposes 8-)
3 Litre Power wrote:You got 300 BHP from an N/A Essex which is pretty good, with a Group 1 Weber 40 DFI5 Carb through right? In Group 1 racing you can't have triples can you.
Vermilion you want 500-700 Hp? that is a lot for a 2.8 Cologne, i'm not sure the block will take it, certainly i don't think anybody has gotten that much from a 2.8 Cologne ever...
Good luck :D

With a Weber 48 IDA which was aloud in later years in Gp1, it was known as the Jug and used on the screamer engines for short races, I bored mine out to 50mm and made better trumpets....

The Triples were used, can't remember if it was in later years or in Gp1B or Gp1.5, they were normally used in long distance races like the Spa 24hrs, they didn't make as much top end power as the IDA but gave better mid-range power, more suited to an endurance engine. This is because although you had 6 chokes, 1 per cylinder, the DCNF's were a bit small at 42mm, a bit like building big budget race Pinto and putting 40DCOE's on it. Whereas with the single IDA, each cylinder pulled through both chokes and so breathed much better at high rpm.

Sorry, I think Facebook is like a cancer, I prefer old school forums. Also if you want to make legal profile to facebook
you need to give them lots of private info. It makes me sad to see that many sites use facebook account to certify personal data.
It's still 3th party side, that makes money, and way lower personal privacy laws than any bank website.
Facebook takes all your private info and saves them to their servers. If you didn't know that every photo you post to facebook,
they can use it, way they want and even sell it to someone.
Also facebook uses hard censorship on certain subjects.

In futute if I ever get more money I will buy forged crankshaft and westlake head, some money going for house and
need to limit little bit budget, but maybe that will be 2.8 Efi V6 turbo EVO 3 engine. Could make more power if wanted
but street drivability and fuel consumption would rise/suffer great. V6T21 camshafts are pretty much the top you can use.
And also the roller rocker bring +1mm extra lift to camshaft. I don't know how much that allready effects drivabilty. My
EVO 1 engine consumes about 16l/100km in combined drive. City takes about 18-21l/100km, but in highways consumption is about 9 to 11l/100km (2400rpm/100km/h on 5th gear 0,82 ratio with 3.09 rear axle ratio). My ceramic ballbearing garret wakes up around 2800 rpm and gives its maximum torque at 4800rpm. So if you drive with 1500 to 2500 rpm area thats where you get the lowest fuel consumption.

Where did you get steel cast thrust plate? (you have esssex but that might be a problem for me).

Made it out of steel plate, surface ground to correct thickness then milled some oil slots.

Orignal essex is cast steel? I think cologne's original thrust plate is already made from steel.

I bought today 6pcs 1300cc/3 bar bosch fuel injectors suitable for E85, I think they should be big enough and good quality.

Bought 300£ worth of connectors for fuel line... from Torques_uk since suitable ones weren't available in Finland. Though.... paypal ripped
my ass off with their conversion rate fee.... 1€ = 0.8£....

Image of latest news and new purchases.

Couple of problems An12 hose doesn't seem to fit to AN12 push on fitting...
https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ak0ev910-aPVuG0vUOCyZ1uCqciV
Painted guide picture of my problems 17.6mm hose to 18.5mm <=> 21mm fitting seem SUPER tight, I wonder if Torque_uk send me wrong
size hose or what?

Also the fuel filter doesnt seem to fit the way I wanted it to fit, It is about 4cm too long with fittings.
Little bit finnish to english translation also "Pää = Main pump" "Vara = secondary pump"

Fuel injectors I bough for my project.

Fuel tank came from welder, now has about 0,5litre extra capasity and since fuel intake is at the lowest
possible point in middle of fuel tank it should be possible to drive fuel tank emptier than before without
problems.

Fuel tank has now suitaible hose outlet for AN-12 fuel hose "18mm O.D outlet"
I hope that is big enough.

I was at dyno yesterday, dyno gave quite a lot torque and 17 years old engine didnt blow up.

https://1drv.ms/v/s!Ak0ev910-aPVuVq7L2NS8CANndbK

675,07 nm torque.

We didnt even test at what ignition advance engine would detonate, we played safe. The one who tuned charts said that maybe 3-5 more iginition advance would have been possible but I fear for my old cast iron pistons that they won't even take a one detonation.

This one has now a New better 2.8 engine with forged internals. Made littile bit less torque but made almost +100 bhb.

New stuff in winter. Bigger fuel lines since 6mm copper lines had some problems, Now AN-8 fuel lines, thats should be enough with E85 and one AEM 400lph and one bosch 044. Internal wastegate was too small and caused problems now external Tial 44mv-r, with a screamer pipe. Intercooler, and turbos exhaust side seem to be next restricting item. Also I doubled engine breathing capasity, changed Mobil 1 5w-50 to Castrol Super Car 10w-60 + redline extra ZDDP additive, (had problems with breathing) and made a new wiper washer bottle and hide it inside front arc. Engine runned too cold so I changed 70 c-degree thermostat to 82 degee, (tried to find 78 degree but i did not find one). Also bough a new billet thermostat housing.

Some small mods done too... support for front registerplate and needed to do some work to rear axle cause Quaife atlas axle seemed to leak oil for somereason from the passager size shaft flange or bearing? (Didnt really figure out why, even though i stripped it to parts)

One question, why torque lowers when I set more boost, but gained more hp? Something restrics too much?
