Anything else to be done when the dash is out?

Post by davboy »

The interior of my 2.8i is currently being refurbished, and as part of that process, the dash is coming out and being replaced by a better one, and the wiring is being closely checked, as there be some minor issues with it following a substandard restoration a number of years ago.

I wondered if anyone could suggest any other jobs that should be done while the dash is out?

I've got a replacement blower motor and also hopefully the right replacement bulbs. There has been a slight drip from the back of the oil pressure gauge and so I guess a small jubilee clip would sort that.

As I say, any suggestions on anything else that should be while the dash is out would be appreciated.

Many thanks and regards.

Hi,
Use some plumber's PTFE tape around the thread when reattaching the oil pipe. That should stop any weeps from around that area.
Good luck with the project.

All the best,
Andrew.

Might be worth a spot of oil on the wiper linkage joints while they`re accessible?

Many thanks for your responses.

I was't quite sure how the oil pressure pipe attaches to the rear of the gauge - I had it in my mind it was some form of shrink fit, but using ptfe tape in that way seems a good plan.

Best regards,

David.

Hi David,
The oil pressure pipe screws onto the back of the gauge.
