HJN 464N Resto From Sm Classic Cars
hi all
been a bit behind with my updates of whats in at the min and whats happening
its been a mad few months and there is plenty more coming in so thats a good thing
there is lots in at the min hence the putting the trim bits back on this one at home then putting it back in the garage on a night lol
i need a bigger unit 2 years ago i thought i was way to big for what i needed now i could do with one three times the size lol
so..
this belongs to young luke on here (capri2s) from essex some of you may know him
he asked me to have a look and see what i thought and what options were avalible
to be honest the car metal wise was very good with only two bits needing cutting out and replacing with new
the under side is in very good condition along with the roof
the passenger front edge of the wing was mostly fibre glass and bits of paper
so it was decided to take it to the paint shop and do the few bits there and cracking on with her
it was complete when it came to me i forgot to take some pictures im sure luke will add some
all the chrome work was stripped
the weather seals and glass were left in just in case it rained on the way over along with some of the interior bits
the couple of bits were cut out and new sections welded in
the front passenger wing was rebuilt with new metal(not an easy job i can tell you)but definatly worth the effort
bother rear quarter panels at the rears had seen some filler action from scrapes and bumps ans was as ripperly as it comes so that was removed and redone an smoothed out
the boot lid had its fair share of dents on the lower part only small ones but that was smoothed off
the pictures will do most of the talking lol
this is when i stripped it ready to go over
.....note the seven different shades of rattle can paint lol
the two bits i cut out and replaced they were bubberling through the paint it was just filler over rust
years of filler repairs on the rear wings
on with the dents/smoothing
for some reason the car had side indicators not sure why but the holes were welded up
this area was full of micro blisters so it was taken back it had little dots of damp under the primers causing it
more smoothing out

didnt get to many of it whilst painted they dont like you in the booth for dust reasons lol
de masking taped
day after i went in where it was warm and started refitting some of the bits
the chrome looks really well against the color
and back home
started re fitting some of the chrome strips today along with the inner rear plastics
i need some more little clips for the next lot
tomorrow ill get on with the bumpers and the mass of electrical wires every where from previous alarms and stereos its all coming out and starting a fresh

Hi Steve,
Love the colour, it really stands out.
Great work returning another Capri to it's former glory.

Re: HJN 464N Resto From Sm Classic Cars
Looks great, really like the colour.
Have to say the Mk2 has grown on me over the years. Think I might fancy having one someday. Certainly appear to be less common than even the Mk1.
I know this may be a weird thing to have noticed, but the aerial is on the driver's wing. Aren't they usually on the passenger side wings? Any ideas why that might be?
Always good to see a Capri being kept alive, and to a very good standard at that
Cheers,
Matt

Looks great, this is the colour that comes to mind when I think of mk2 Ghias, with the all tan trim, with matching tan dash!MattMe wrote:Looks great, really like the colour.

The S front spoiler finishes it off too.
My dads mk2 had a manual aerial on the drivers side/offside wing but don't know if this was the standard issue.
