Capri mk3 1978 1.6 Project

Post by Tha_fryguy »

Hello, I'm new on here. :)

I have just bought my first Capri, been on the look for a while, but they seemed out off my reach(££).

But then I stumbled over this one. 1978 1.6 maybe a S-model. It has overriders on the bumpers, a stripe on the side and rev.counter. I'm not sure we even got the 1.6S here in Denmark...

And new wheels bought. Trialfitted on my mates Capri.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. :welcome:

It's good to see that another Capri has found it's way into the ownership of somebody who has the ability and means to restore it to it's former glory.
However, it's sad to hear that the prices of Capris in Denmark are going the same way as the prices over here....

Good luck with the restoration, I look forward to seeing how it progresses.

All the best,
Andrew.

All the best

Thanks guys :)

Prices are a bit steap, payed apx. 1500£ for her. But thats very cheap, and I know the guy I bought her from.

I work in spareparts, so i got both left and right wing 120£ bargain. There were no markings on the wings, so I dont know the make. But the guy i bought them from works at Klokkerholm, if you know that company, they sell bodypanels all over Europe.

Plans for the car, is to get it running and MOT'd and enjoy it for a few years, before I start the big restauration. :)

That's a good price for 2 wings. Did you find they fitted quite well without too much problem? They look a good fit at the top by the scuttle panel. I'd be interested in knowing that manufacturer if you could find out.

Update time 8-)

I have started attacking the surfacerust with an anglegrinder, and giving it som Zinkcoating. Seems to be in fairly good condition, and not much work rust wise.

Lots of pics :)

Some great work there fella.

As said those wings look to be a good fit and the car is looking like it is fairly solid and coming on well.

Keep up the good work and keep the photos coming.

Thanks, I will do :)

I started to remove all the bits from the enginebay. I will try to make the bay a lot cleaner, and remove all unneeded holes/brackets an such.
