my capri restorations on going thread

Post by elliecharlie2008 »

hi all
I thought id post a thread up with what I do for others and my own etc
they range from bits of work to full on nut and bolt restos it will take a while to upload piccys just sorting through photobucket at the min
ill start with the 3.0s I have at the min
I was asked to build a signal orange 79 3.0s so I went out and found a 3,0s on the right year it started life out as oyster gold with a vynal roof over the years it had been matt blacked the interior removed jacked up on the rear mag wheels and a straight through exhaust all was to be removed so it made no difference it looked straight however hiding was some terrible repairs so it had
replacement genuine ford front wings
new sills and inner sills
new rear lower arches and inner arches
the valence repaired
both headlight bowl tops cut out and replaced
both drip rails replaced
new out riggers
part of the floor repaired
lower door jambs replaced
and scuttle panels repaired
there was something else too lol
the exhaust was binned a new full janspeed was purchased
front standard brakes/struts were removed and replaced with 2.8 legs and 4 pot calipers
drilled and grooved discs
new shoes, cylinders, fitting kit, braided flexi hoses, all new brake pipes servo and cylinder serviced
new four spoke polished alloys with new tyres, nuts
a orange Carla check interior was sourced
replacement door cards dash carpet center console(customer wanted the long console)were all recolored in black
rs steering wheel sourced
engine was pulled stripped all new seals gaskets fitted along with a new steel timing gear
gearbox was overhauled and painted
as was the axle
single leafs were fitted along with a 1"lowering kit
new u bolts and bushes all round
all new s stripes
new roof lining
all black external trim was cleaned back and satin blacked
same with the bumpers
a lot of work went on to the car in between other projects and was worth the effort
once it was painted the car was put back together with all new nuts and bolts along with new bottom arms new tcas new steering rack with new pipes big header radiator was sent to caprigear for a recore new water pipes new heater motor
all new sound proofing new speedo cable clutch cable and handbrake cable whatever could be replaced with new it was
other than that it was refurbished
at the min she is tucked up in my garage awaiting collection
pictures will follow
ill start from how it was to the end
note..there is a few piccys lol

Hi Steve,
It's nice to know people like you are still out there doing things properly and not covering up crap for a quick profit.

Look forward to some pics, there is something about an Orange 3.0S :D :D

If mine ever needs major work I might call you, would you collect and deliver back to Devon :?:
