Capri laser 1.6 1986 daily

Post by tomfairall1995 »

hi all,

This is my 1986 ford capri laser, i've owned it since july of this year however have only just got around to making a thread for it. As of now this is my only car and being 19 it makes modifying it difficult how my plan eventually is to put something that would make children cry as i drive past :D. :lowrider:.

car has been on wheeler dealers in 2004 and has never been welded nor does it need it, when was the last time you saw that ;)

capri when i got it =)

i brought new seats (blue carla for an old 2.8i) from the capri specialist in my area as well as trading my drift wheel with my bro for a mk2 escort RS one and putting an 8 ball pool gear stick knob on.

Hi,
That's a really nice Capri, and it's clear that a lot of excellent work has been carried out to a good standard. I really like the improvements to the interior. I also prefer it with the Mk3 grille on.

I've just re-watched the Wheeler Dealers episode, the car looks good on that and hasn't deteriorated in the ten years since!

All the best,
Andrew.

I've watched that Wheeler Dealers episode a few times, and bought the DVD. It's really good to see the car is still up and running.

How many capris did wheeler dealers do?

As I recall it was a D reg blue over silver.

Or is the other car that featured when mike use to get car owners on to have a chat and take a drive on the runway?

I often wonder what happened to the one they worked on.

Hi,
Wheeler Dealers have only repaired one Capri. This black Laser was shown in a few scenes in the same episode.

The 1.6 Laser featured in series 1 which broadcast in November 2003 was D527SJN. It has not been taxed since the end of October 2003.

I think I read on the internet somewhere that the girl who bought the car in the programme crashed it soon after buying it. That may or may not be true, I'm sure you know that you can't believe everything you read on the internet!

Andrew.

I have read that they regretted doing a Capri so early on in the series, as back then the production values were very low as compared to the later series'. And that they have it in mind to do another Capri, likely a 2.8.

i probably should have said that it was the "car to aim for" in the wheeler dealers episode not the one they did up =)

hi and :welcome: to the forum mate. i really like this capri its beautiful i also own a D reg black 1.6 laser but not in as good condition as yours. its great that the car mike brewer drove on the capri episode of wheeler dealers is still going. i met mike and edd at the NEC car show 2 years ago that was great. i bet when your driving it you cant believe mike brewer sat where your sat. the day before i was going to look at my capri laser when it was for sale i kept watching the wheeler dealers capri episode mainly for the black laser in it as i was going to look at one like it. also i like the tasteful modifications you've done like painting the engine and putting black inserts in the alloys etc. i especially like the interior you've put in as im repairing the exact same rare blue carla check recaro interior out of an early 4 speed 2.8i at the moment to go in my black laser. there nearly finished seeing them in your car has given me a great idea on what there going to look like in my car. :)

i bought the seats for £130 and the cards for £40 off of my local capri specialist, i think i know who that mk2 fiesta is as i work at a college and a student has one there. what facebook group was it?

Good looking car, like the upgrades you've done too, especially the interior, ford should have done the Laser justice by fitting a better interior from new as it seems to be the first upgrade anyone does to these models. Bodywork looks to be in really good shape too.
