2.0 laser street sleeper.
2.0 laser street sleeper.
Hi, I have finally taken some pics of the work in progress. I have had this car for about 6 years now, first order of biz was to get all the body work done and re-sprayed.
Now I have finally had time to upgrade the mechanicals- see pics.
was intending "light sand and slap on some hammerite" and then went a bit mad......
work almost finished on axle/diff.... painted, poly bushes on single leafs and ARB, poly bump stops and....
rear vented discs. brackets:
calipers:
NB you need to file about 1.5mm off the caliper bosses:
installed with discs:
and now under Brookie 15"
later this week hopefully I will be making up copper brake lines- need to practice with the flaring tool a bit.... master cyl is ready to go on as is the servo, then hopefully the front end won't be quite as stop-start.

Awesome. Good clean work going on here. Like the oven baked brakes.
Re: 2.0 laser street sleeper.
Thx, I am trying Rustoleum combicolour on the brembos, having been advised that it's a bit better than Hammerite which is what I use under the car mostly, or caliper paint from Halfrauds.
Seems pretty good so far.

Capri's can't be made to look like sleepers they're too mean.
I'm the one who leaves all those shoes in the carriageway.

People always assume my 1.6 is fast hahaMajor_Tom wrote:Capri's can't be made to look like sleepers they're too mean.
Since I got a capri I've said "over the moon" a lot more than ever before.
Re: 2.0 laser street sleeper.
More work this weekend, almost back on the road:
new steering rack gaiters, found a bad split on the offside.
and stickers on calipers too.
I haven't got pics of the newly made up flexible braided lines and also all new front solid brake lines. Also washed the engine bay and pressure washed the outside.
Currently stuck with the offside strut which has holes for the caliper which are 1) stripped and 2) too oversize for helicoiling- so I am waiting for time-serts from the US- couldn't find a supplier here- the thread is 7/16 UNF and I have the correct helicoil but as it's a safety critical bolt I am going to time-sert both of them- hopefully the damn hole is not too big, the outside of the time-sert is 5/8 UNC.
Problem is I got the struts years ago on eBay and never checked these threads.
