Virtually zero movement Andrew, just a bit of flex from the rubber mount, looks like you need a new rubber. For what it cost you'd just as well change the bearing at the same time.Andrew 2.8i wrote:Hi Neil, sheff wrote: changed mine when I bought the car. The prop seemed to have a lot of side to side movement, thought it might smooth the ride out a bit. The bearing on mine was ok, but I changed it anyway. The problem was the rubber sleeve around the bearing which was worn where it contacts with the bearing. Unfortunately it didn't make any significant differences to how the car drove
Thanks for that info, much appreciated. How much movement does your centre bearing sleeve have now? If I push up at the join, Mine moves, probably, 15-20mm within the rubber housing. Does that sound excessive? I've never changed either the bearing or the housing, and there isn't a receipt for anything in the history, so I have no idea when these parts were last changed.
Sorry for the hijack, Mart!
