Yup thought I can use some better lights and quad lights FTWr2vdh wrote:looking good. see you got the BMW lights in there.
Front end is almost done. Though not perfect, I think I'm hay with the result.

Any updates?
Re: Capri MK1 Restomod - Sri Lanka
Been a bit lazy with the updates
Things have been pretty slow really. The fabricator did a decent job on restoring the rusty bits but couldn't quite wrap his head around modifying the wheel arches resulting in a few mishaps. I now have a different bloke attending to these and am quite happy with what he's turning out. The rear arches are done and the fronts are being worked on.
So it's the lip and the ducktail to be done and we should be in good shape to try the engine (at long last) and lay some paint on I'll be a very happy man if I can wrap it up by the year end.

Re: Capri MK1 Restomod - Sri Lanka
Some WIP photos of the bonnet. I wanted to keep the flat bonnet as is but it turns out the engine bumps into it so a bulge needed to be fabricated. It needs more work to get the shape. I would've loved a 3ltr bonnet but they are near impossible to source over here and too expensive to ship in.
We are almost there with the fabrication work. Here you can see the template being done for the lip. Only the ducktail remains to be done.

Why the hell have you fitted a cologne for?!?!
Re: Capri MK1 Restomod - Sri Lanka
I couldn't find an Essex and the Cosworth motors were beyond my budget. It proved very difficult to find, ship and manage customs regulations. It's 150bhp plus and we don't have any ford v6 powered capris over here soTerra-Kotta wrote:Why the hell have you fitted a cologne for?!?!

Fair enough. But I think you'll struggle to see 150 bhp, even 140 at the flywheel. Had plenty myself. Troublesome hatefull engines.
If you had the US version you'd have seen a bit more power with the Holley carb but I don't think you will get much with the uk version.

I will have to wait a bit longer to see what it does. Hopefully I can get the efi system to work in the first place. Plan is to get it running first and then try and see what improvements can be done.Terra-Kotta wrote:Fair enough. But I think you'll struggle to see 150 bhp, even 140 at the flywheel. It's not EFI. It's mfi. It's a bit crap to be honest you'd be better sticking a carb and inlet on it.

So why didn't Ford do that?Terra-Kotta wrote:It's not EFI. It's mfi. It's a bit crap to be honest you'd be better sticking a carb and inlet on it.

I will try to get the injection system to work at first. If it refuses to fire up or continue to cause issues, I will look at using a suitable carburettor/s.

It's not IF it refuses to work, It's IT WILL refuse to work. Have you considered one of the better classic engines? Pinto? Cross flow?Hoonigan wrote:I will try to get the injection system to work at first. If it refuses to fire up or continue to cause issues, I will look at using a suitable carburettor/s.
Re: Capri MK1 Restomod - Sri Lanka
I do have the 1600 that was in the car. But i wanted a V6. I guess you can call it a personal preference

Re: Capri MK1 Restomod - Sri Lanka
My last update was just last week heavy rains have slowed things down a bit. Working on the duck tail which should be the end of any fabrication work.Kenyanperana wrote:Hi Hoonigan.

Will try to start the engine right after and see if anything needs doing there, pull everything out for paint and then interior.

Re: Capri MK1 Restomod - Sri Lanka
Sorry, I misread the dates! My build is on the member's cars section, I might ask admin to move it here. My ducktail bootlid is a fibreglass item from Tickover, it might be a better option for you and it won't be too expensive to post as its light. Mind you, there are no compound curves in the steel version, so you should be able to fabricate it in steel with the guys you have out there, they obviously know what they are doing...
