lazer 1.6 project
Hi all , just thought i'd share my lazer 1.6 project with you all
I had the car for about 6 months now and have been concentrating on the bodywork mainly
I have removed the rear leaf springs and replaced these and cleaned up the diff and painted, i now have new brakes all round , calapers, wheel cylinders, shoes, pads and some brake pads
rather than replace the wing i repaired it , a rust hole was found after cleaning up the area and a patch was welded in
the rust area has been repaired, a plate made up, welded up,welds ground back ,filled and primed , i was going to lead load the patch but was happy with filler.repairs to rear arch next .

Re: lazer 1.6 project
The rear arch is next, the rear part was in very good condition but the front was rusty , hidden by body filler
the rusty area was cut out
A repair patch was cut from an arch panel to fit exactly so it can be butt welded
then welded in
all finished off , only a small amount of body filler was needed due to the butt welds

Great work, it's motivation to sort mine out.
Since I got a capri I've said "over the moon" a lot more than ever before.

Yeh once you get into it and get some results it feels
Good and knowing that it's all your work too , can't beat
A bit of evening work on the project in the garage .

Top job, going to have to do similar work to mine, guess a crash course in welding wouldn't go amiss.. Can't wait till mine looks that good.

Re: lazer 1.6 project
Many congratulations. An excellent finished job.
Did you remove the tailgate glass during repair/painting, or did you manage to mask around the rubber ? (only asking as I will need to have mine repainted next year.)
Andy.
