:?: Any update on this. The vent idea is a goodun nice n subtle. In wet/crappy weather would water n muck be brough up from the wheels fall into the vents and drip down on anything electric? Have you added any strenghtening to the inner wings or bulkhead to accomodate the increase in power? Don't know if you'd need to as i don't know the weight difference, but presumably they'll be oodles more power. Some people weld a 90 deg bracket from the bulkhead to the chasis rails, the inner wings to the chassis rails and then add a strut brace. Is it needed in this case. Love to see the updates. Did you use a joggler at any point when welding - what are they like? Cheers

hi
no updates as yet(have been ill) :banghead:
i have put wedges where the bulk head meet the chassis rails
the chassis rails have been double skinned where the x-member bolts to them (also using 3 bolts per side insted of the normal 2)
there will be a strut brace.
am hoping for over 200 bhp from the essex (near 240 if i can)
i have a joggler but only use it when reparing stuff like wings, sills

Excellent. With 200-250 horses - is it necessary to reinforce it all or is it precautionary? I know i would add an extra wedges here and there at anything over 200bhp

You might want to think about a contrasting bright colour for the engine bay, makes it easier to work on the engine coz youve got more light in there. My car is dark green, but I'm doing my bay bright silver for that reason.

the underside of the car is silver, might carry that on in to the engine bay. or i might do the underside/engine bay signal orange. so many choices..................am a long way from painting it yet so i have time to think about it.
i know what you mean about dark engine bays,as i did one for my mate and that was black........

Still not done much to her. Been looking after the misses who has been ill :( going to have a change of plan with her. The swaymar Essex won't be fitted (will be sold) I have plans for another engine to be used. One that hasn't been fitted to a Capri before. :)

am re-starting my rebuild. but she isn't getting the 3.1 swaymar Essex any more. I have recently sold all of my Essex stuff. am going down a completely different route. some might not like it. its not a v8,v10,v12, its not an electric motor or even steam powered. :) all will be revealed soon :) but she will go well :)

 sounds amazing. As someone who doesn't have the skills to do what you're doing, big respect.
Inner wing vents - great idea.
