Why post it here?
The strip down begins:
I think I may need to do some welding...
Another BMC inspired weldathon beckons...
The engine to go in:
This is where it may be interesting to you lot...
I know others are considering doing this, but I'm doing it cheaply and using the standard efi to start with.
1996 Ford Mondeo- 150 pounds.
In these pictures I will detail how to extract the loom. There is a lot of it!
Essentially there are three parts to it: The Underdash loom, the engine loom and the bay loom.
Underdash loom.
The dash needs to come out. Remove the facia, remove the clocks, remove the heater controls, remove the glove box. Either end of the dash, two bolts hold it to the a pillars.
Dash pulled out minus clocks:
The airbag module and wiring isn't needed:
The alarm module was taken out for now:
The ignition switch was taken for now:
The transponder sits around the ignition barrel:
Unbolt the connector block which sits in the driver's A pillar:
Pull the wiring tight and snip the door loom:
Then snip the rear loom:
Central heater controls removed (those wires are not needed)
rip that dash out! LOL! I folded this bit up on to the top.
This holder lives under the glove box:
press the button and the fuse box pops out.
The holder bolts in at the four points you can see:
This is the fuse box it holds:
Behind the fuse box sits this connector, it connects the dash loom to the bay loom:
Split the connector and begin to pass the bay loom plugs through this bulkhead hole:
You will see some wires are left. These run to the door loom and the rear loom- snip them in the bay. I've not checked, but I reckon at this point I snipped the fuel pump feed (violet/ orange), but I wasn't going to retrive all that chaff for one wire!!!
The heated screen and wiper loom clips out here:
snip off the indicator wires, disconnect the air con, radiator and headlight wiring clips. The bay loom unbolts from the engine loom.
Back inside the car, the underdash loom should pull out after the connectors to the heater motor and dash controls are unclipped.
How to save £130...
Water rail fabrication from some old steel shelving left at work and a steel tube.
Some people modify and fit a Sierra CVH sump. I don't need to I think...
I also welded up the fannymold take off for the smog control emissions rubbish.
I've also needed to fit an 1800 zetec flywheel and clutch. Also an up and over Escort inlet fannymold.
It will be mated to a type nine.
As for the prop...
that secret comes later!

Cheers Peter. Do you like the way I've tried to dress up the zetec to look like a Lotus Twin Cam?

Have seen them and they look sublime, but I've a tight £999 budget, as I want to enter in the PPC 999 challenge.
One WILL be a future addition though.

My prop shaft plan is doomed to failure- bugger. I'm having to get one built. But £90 for the bespoke item isn't too bad, plus it means I can mount the engine way back in the bay.
