Hello,
I've had my capri for 2 weeks now, only had it insured for 1 weekand done about 190 miles. i have found out its a bit rusty
i only bought it as a bit of an all weather osf, but started sorting out some rust patches today,
i started by jet washing up under the arches etc to clear out the mud, and there was loads of it.
also used a pipe off an old inlet to use to blast behine the arches
the worese parts was the n/s rear arche and sill,
this is how it looked to start
after a bit of a look and a poke the sill fell off,
there was not good metal left so i found an old boot weel repair from my escort and chopped it and shaped it to fit,
i can't weld etc, so i had to use filler to hold it on
i then sanded and filled a small gap with some mesh stuff on the arch.
then bit of primer, green and lacquer
this is how it turned out. u can tell its not perfect but not too bad.
im not a body work expert by any means but best to have a go yourself.
i need to plaster it in wayoyl and underseal next week, and then sort a few other patches up but that was the worse bit,
ill then painted the bumpers and jest wash the engine down a bit.
this is only a very basic tidy up, but will keep it update as i go along.
Paul.

Bear in mind you;ve just incorrectly repaired a structural member and if noticed at MOT time it will get knocked back
Then theres all the obvious safety issues too...
Other than that good work! Save up and buy a welder and learn yourself its all i did

That rust looks very close to the leaf spring attachment point. Might be worth getting someone to weld that up properly as you don't want any nasty surprises when you're driving it

To drive out moisture from your electrics, spray some wd40 over any exposed wires, leads, cap, etc...
Car looks good btw, fair play to you for doing it yourself as well.
