First Capri - B249WYB

Post by Capri Jimbo »

This is my first project which I have taken on with my Dad, I am only 19 and haven't really had much interest in the cars until now, everything is just... BETTER!
I wanted to post a build just to show people some of the stuff that can be done on a low budget. I couldn't really afford a respray so therefore it's just going to have to be a ratty looking Capri for the first year or so. Here it goes anyway. First of all the car was completely stripped out

The inner wing was welded up and also a small part of the front valance and blasted it with a bit of stone chip

Thanks for looking at my build page and let me know what you think; I have a lot more pictures but I think this will do for now.

Cheers Jimbo

Old fords are good student cars, You dont have to pay someone else a fortune to fix them.

Glad to see you getting her back into shape.

Thanks, I know it isn't a great build but I just thought I would get some photos up. Mechanically, everything is pretty sound. Not sure about the engine yet though but she sounds nice at the moment. Electric just all seemed to work after a little trial and error, the fan motor isn't working but I got a spare to put in. Lights all work etc. Happy days. Think I will start with the filler in October time :) just cruise it around like it is. Mot is in line for the next month just a little welding to be done. You guys got build pages?

No OTT here with the mods, only thing unoriginal is the XR3i Recaros. Definitely needed some of those!

Try a classic car company.
Footman james, adrian flux or lancaster. I have been with lancaster for a few years, they're very cheap.

Try this Young driver comparison site

A lot of the pictures have stopped working which is a bit annoying, but heres a few of the past two years that are missing from this page

Made some coilovers and put two inch lowering blocks on the rear. Also added some nice polybushes!

These are now a few photos of prep, getting the old girl ready for paint!

Hi,
Good work, the car looks stunning. It's a credit to all the hard work you've put into it over the years.
Love the wheels too!

All the best,
Andrew.

Cheers Andrew,

I do like the wheels but think some Ford center caps will finish them off!

still a few little things to do -

Engine out and tidy up
New engine in (Need to build the beast first)
New exhaust system needed (4 branch etc)
Rear axle needs attention as making a bit of noise

Hi,
Your car looks superb........... Love the colour, looks great without the side trims and those wheels suit it perfectly.
Well done
Will we be seeing the car at Simply Ford 2016? Where in the South East are you from?

All the best

Hello Neil,

Funny story on the colour as I couldn't find the paint anywhere! So got a bolt from inside the door paint matched and it turned out a little lighter than original but I love it!

I would of liked to also fill the corner bumper trim holes in and get mk2 bumpers but now it's painted I shall leave it as it is.

I am based near Exeter in the South west. I took it to classic ford last month and will also be going to retro rides at the end of the month
