hello New here

Post by MAC64 »

gday all. ive been a ford man most of my life so when i came across this capri going for a great price it was to good to let go by. Apparently it was completely stripped and rebuilt about 14 years ago. Since then its been siting in a garage for most of that time and driven infrequently and just recently it got painted with oil based house paint . It is a 1981 2.8i 5speed and LSD needs a bit of work but goes well.
cheers, Brian

Hi Brian,
Welcome to the forum! :welcome:
That's a nice looking 2.8 you've got, and if it was up for a great price you'd be mad to pass on it.
Are you going to use it and enjoy the car as it is, or do you have plans to restore it?

Andrew.

first up it needs the rear spring bushes replaced and the thermostat housings aswell, that should make it a nice drivable car for awhile till i get some time to strip it down for a repaint. It would be great to pull it right down and restore but not sure about that yet.

:welcome: G'day mate, looks a great car in the picture and the bits you need are quite easy to get and if you need them plenty of the Capri specialists on here will mail to Australia. Not sure about the house paint on it though but it seems to work!

Where abouts in Perth are you? I know it really well having been there, staying with mates, over 11 times in all. Also got friends in Mandurah.
I love WA, my favorite state in Australia.

Wecome to the forum and look forward to seeing progress reports on your car.

Paul.

gday Paul
the car is in pretty good nic, a small rust spot near the a post one atop the headlight pot and a fairly decent chunk in the tailgate all easy enough to fix.
The paint job leaves alot to be desired, looks ok from about 10 metres. done mostly with a roller. Thankfully only the outside is painted, not in the door seams but paint is over some of the rubbers. Already have parts from uk to get it drivable then when time is better ill work out what im doing.

I live in the hills east of Perth, a place called Roleystone

i will get the car out in the daylight and get some better pics soon

:welcome: to the forum Brian.

As said fella thats a very nice looking Capri indeed. Sounds like it was one of those 'cant let it slip through my fingers moments" Nice one mate. Good luck with the jobs in hand but yep this is a great place to get advice, parts and lots of encouragement along the way !!

Look forward to seeing more pics.

All the best mate

well after looking at it carefully i will be giving it a new paint job and go over all the bits and pieces to make it tidy and run good but wont be a rebuild, Looks like the car was originally a 2L auto at least that makes the decision to put a v8 in it easier

Hi and welcome aboard. Looks like a tidy enough set of wheels. Shouldn’t be too long before you’ve got a decent road worthy on iand enjoying the summer with it.
