I used to do the white lettering on my Mk3 Escort, Goodyear Grand Prix S Tyres.

It was a Wax Crayon type of thing, but never lasted too long.....Looked good though :)

Yeah I had the same issue previously on my old Goodyear's so I had the ingenious plan to buy the paint they use to Whitehall tyres! Stuff works a treat as it is it is designed to be more flexible so you literally have to paint it onto the wheel and apparently should last the lifetime of the tyres... we will see though haha

Hi Danny,
Looking forward to seeing a photo or two of the wheels fitted. With or without socks in the frame, I'm not fussy.... :)

I love them! Couple of pictures of the car in the office car park, and one parked up outside a barn I had to stop by for work on Saturday so looks funky! Definitely fills the arches a real treat and sets the car off very nicely in my humble opinion.... :)

Had another long drive today over to Peterborough to collect a new gearbox so I can drop it in and go back to having five gears rather than just having four, and awful fuel consumption!

Hope these pictures don't disappoint!

All the best
Danny

Hi Danny,
Woo-hoo! The wheels and tyres look superb! 8-)
The bit of stretch on the tyre doesn't look anywhere near as pronounced as it did off the car, so that's all good.

Apart from the total absence of funky socks, they don't! :D

Hi,
I'm not sure they are something I'd fit, but at least they are available in black, and a full set is cheaper than a wheel refurb.

Andrew.
Thanks for this Andrew, my dad actually fitted a set to his awful Pug, though I'll never understand why... It didn't seem to be very strong though as when he kerbed it the thing just came off and still damaged the wheel anyway

I think I'll just have to be very careful until I get the wider tyres on there...
So you reckon you can get away with bigger tyres than 175's without rubbing then Danny
I'm hoping so Nick, I measured it all up and looks like it should fit a treat, can't see why there would be any issues, but like you said I haven't tried full lock yet, not been round enough roundabouts in them yet

I'm glad they meet your approval! Really pleased with how they've turned out, and I can only apologise and promise to make more of an effort with my socks in the future

Cheers

They look great. Im not a fan of the stretched tyre look myself, but thats just personal preference. These look great and are definitely tempting. You say you have a Sportex exhaust fitted too? How much space is there between the rear tyre and the exhaust?

To be honest I wasn't really planning a stretched tyre look, didn't really think it would be that stretched to be honest, think I will be getting 205s next time out (at least!)

There's plenty of space there, will go out and measure it tomorrow for ya

Much appreciated. I only worry about the exhaust because mine seems close with just 185's on it and obviously if I get wheels like this and put 205's on them...Well you can see why I'd be a bit worried.

Danny, those 7.5's look fantastic fella !! Excellent job mate ! Love Em :applaud: :D :D

I see you aint got those lock nuts yet young man !! You really should for extra security mate, As said McGard do really good ones that look pretty cool too as well as being very good quality. Don't risk it too much longer especially if you park your Capri outside. Whilst extra bricks might come in useful at some stage for you, 'free' bricks supporting your Laser aint really what I was thinking :)

Oh Yeah, almost forgot you should get some of this stuff too Danny...I use it and is great stuff. Leaves a protective layer so the brake dust/dirt does not harm the rims...

Give yourself about an extra hour when you wash/wax your Laser now mate to include the wheels now...I do

Looking forward to seeing you and your Laser and your wheels at Beaulieu fella...including a convoy hopefully, weather permitting :)

All the best

Nick

Haha it is on my list of to-buy! Both the lock nuts and the wheel wax, had a busy weekend as the better half said she has had enough of me spending more time with the car than her recently... And "weather permitting" ?? For you maybe, I'll be out rain or shine don't you worry! :D

Cheers

Hey Danny, I do get it out in the rain sometimes......popped over to see John on Sunday morning and whilst I was praying it would not rain it pissed down. Never used my wipers so much in a long time

Took me bleedin ages to clean it all back up again though. This "wet/dirty" stuff gets everywhere don't it !! I am getting too old for this stress Danny. But I definitely will be coming to Beaulieu, just not sure if it will be a Pinto or V6
