Thanks John, I've had a quick look and does look a decent option! Only thing that worries me is that is says it won't fit with the standard servo in place... Also for an extra £25 I can get a custom made one that will fit around the servo so personally I'd rather play it safe... Great find though, I didn't find that site in the week I spent looking!!

Also, I was trying my best to keep my latest surprise under wraps until the Ace but I can't so here you are...

Here is my production line...

Very nice! They do indeed look gorgeous. 8-)
The white lettering on the tyres looks like it was factory applied. Incredibly neat! You'll have to be extremely careful around kerbs now....

Andrew.

Haha thanks Andrew, it did take a good few hours! My dad had to do the large delicate N with the small stripes, his hands are much steadier than mine, but gave me a good break!

I'm already worried about kerbs and they're not even on the car yet

Last coat of Poorboys wheel sealant going on this evening along with a bit of lacquer for the last wheel and then hopefully will be on this evening :D

Rather than using the traditional tyre-pens, I got a can of something called 'Mr Whitewalls' which is designed to whitewall entire tyres and is slightly flexible so can move with the rubber so hopefully it will last....

Those look awesome, though I hope you have better luck with those nankangs then I did, mine were defective and didn't even have a date stamp on them so had to fight to get a refund from the shady seller.

Doesn't sound like you've had much luck!!
Mine have been good so far, they all have date stamps from July/August time last year which I thought was a little odd as I got them from JBW, but guess they just bulk buy the tyres and just fit them as and when they get the request so have some old ones sitting about as well...

Feels good chucking them into the corners so far anyways so fingers crossed!

Nah, just a never ending avalanche of bad luck pretty much. If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have none at all.

Spent yesterday stripping the top of the engine off ready for parts to come from CCI following my oil leak... turns out there looks like there was more wrong than meets the eye!

The exhaust gaskets had some oil on them, as did the inlet manifold gaskets, the rocker cover gasket was torn, the spark plugs were caked in some oil as well so think the head gasket is probably also not in the best condition...! Good to get the car up on the ramp again so I could clean off all the oil and gunk and general shiite in the engine bay and make it look a little tidier in the process!

Rad has come out (after a lot of fighting with the original jubilee clips which are crap!), exhaust and inlet manifolds now both off, rocker cover off, couldn't get the viscous fan off no matter how hard I twatted it with a hammer and chisel, and didn't want to start taking the timing belt off myself...

When the parts come in (hopefully Monday) the garage who's ramp, tools and space they let me use for nothing yesterday will build it back up again
for me - new gaskets and seals throughout along with a new cam belt and oil filter so should be back to new basically!

Some pics below - and yes that shirt was bright white at the start of the day before it became covered in blood and oil!

With the viscous fan coupling Danny remember they are a left hand thread so you have to "twat" them on the right hand side of the flats on the retaining nut. They unscrew clockwise.

Thanks Paul, I did check first as I remember previously reading about how they are a nightmare to get off and read they are left hand thread so was twatting them clockwise, evidently I'm just not strong enough to do it

Annoyingly the Haynes book of lies says there is a nut on the front of the fan to remove it, rather there is a large spring there instead so... fat lot of use that was!

Haha love it Paul, pretty accurate as well! The picture doesn't do it any justice, the shirt was almost black, as were my face and hands, and I had a beanie hat on to stop my hair getting in the way, so walking around town to get the train home and dinner afterwards I got a lot of looks from people thinking I was homeless

I though it was a black shirt but you got a bit of white on it :)

Full credit to you Danny for getting stuck it whilst remaining jovial about it. You seem to get fun and enjoyment form it all, and that's what it's about.

Well I try my best! Don't get me wrong the air was blue all day and many an angry word shouted while it was being done, but to be honest it was the first time I'd ever taken anything more than the exhaust manifold or radiator out of the engine bay - I'm usually too concerned about getting it wrong and not being able to drive it, and I never get the time or space to do it, but I actually enjoyed it and quite happy I managed to do so much myself :)

Well it's been a tough few days... I hadn't been able to drive the GL much/at all really last week because of the oil leak and had to scrounge for lifts around or get the train to work and back each day, obviously then had to leave the car behind on Saturday to sort the mini engine rebuild that is happening, but luckily... managed to get Debby back yesterday, with one shiny new exhaust manifold!!

The first two pictures are ones the garage took before I got there and posted on their Spacebook, the third is the one I tried to take at 9 last night when I got it home after my three hour round trip to collect the car again... Fair to say I think it's well worth it, and if possible, it's slightly louder now too....
