Hi thought I'd show a few photos of my latest Capri purchase , I still have the cologne mk1 but that's very much work in progress and stuck in a barn in France!!
So when this mk2 came up for sale , it was an itch that needed scratching , the bodywork is excellent new sills , very solid capri , and the folder of bills that came with the car included 3000 pounds for second engine rebuild , 3" big bore exhaust is very throaty ,and she pulls nicely through the gears , although the rear axle (2.8i ) is a tad winey , also has 2.8i suspension and brakes , one issue she does suffer from is the death shake if you hit 40 mph above 50mph and she's fine !!
will look into getting wheels balanced on the car . the S stripes have not been put on correctly the chap followed the door lines , rather than following the profile
The interior is 280 raven leather .......not bad condition , but seats are very tired and will need treating ...one unfortunate previous owner had a penchant for green paint , he must have been drunk because at some stage he must have used a green aerosol over the interior it has a light sheen of green , Why !!! going to have to replace the carpet and use some paint thinners.
cars great to drive and nice to be behind the wheel of a Capri again
cheers

Hi,
Welcome to the forum!
Very nice Capri, I really like the colour and the wheels set it off a treat. I'm sure it will at5tract a lot of attention whenever you take it out for a spin.
Judging by your username I assume you also own an Aston. I wouldn't mind seeing photos of that, if you have any.
All the best,
Andrew.

Hi and welcome aboard. Looks like you've got a decent set of wheels there. May you have many years of carefree driving in it.

Re: 3.1 mk 2 canary yellow
Thanks
Have had a fair few Capris , over the years , and its great to be back behind the wheel of the 3 litre here's a few of them I have owned and the Blue mk1 Cologne I still have
1973 3000 GXL sold a few years ago for 1000 quid ........how much would she be worth now !
My other Cologne Capri .........currently in France
was fitted with a 2.8i tickford turbo , I sold the engine and am currently looking for a V8, another future project ideally to be fitted with a corvette LS7 engine , I'm desperately looking for a good black mk1 facelift interior ......dash panels etc as the guy I bought her from fitted 2.8i Carla check grey interior which does not suit a mk1 capri
car arriving in France ....note there is no engine in the car ...but how low is that trailer
other classics cars , not Capris
DBS are my initials ......sadly I have never owned an Aston , but have been lucky enough to own a 1965 series 1 4.2 E type FHC , I had her for 4 years , great drive and really scratched an itch but with two kids, she really had to go. Sold her last Jan , she had a service history folder as thick as a phone book , original RH UK car , original engine gearbox etc.......but these cars are very fragile and can create big bills .........luckily I found an old time served mechanic who is in his 70s (was an apprentice at Henley's in London ) who used to let me use his ramp and knowledge to fix her , in exchange for Cords of wood and my DIY skills repainting his house ........was a good deal !!
a few photos I sold her last year
E type jag ,
E type being prepared for sale , Lotus stripped down
Lotus type 22
This Lotus popped up on Ebay a few years ago , it was unusual to say the least , a Formula Junior fitted with a Kawasaki ZX9R racing engine ......produces more HP than my 3 litre !! weighing just 400kg with Quaife diff and 6 speed sequential gears , very fast , had her up to 155 mph In France a and the front was starting to lift I have her stripped down as I am rebuilding her and repainting her in Team Lotus colours .
( If anyone has seen the 1967 movie " Grand Prix " with James Garner , these Lotus Formula juniors were used for the movie with bodywork to resemble F1 BRM / Lotus / Hondas
thanks

Hi David,
You've got an amazing collection of cars! Fantastic.
Has the Lotus 22 been converted to be road legal as well as having the bike engine fitted? That must be quite something.....

Hi Andrew
Yes its fully road legal ,and MOT'd local garage Mot her and use their apprentice to operate the pedals for brake test.
here's a few youtube clips unfortunately they are not very long

Real fun to drive , the chap I bought her from had an Arial Atom he said the Lotus was quicker through the gears , I've had a few hairy moments in her , An HGV didn't see me on a dual carriageway as I was overtaking he started to pull out in front of me ...gave me quite a brown trouser moment
I'm planning to remove the Kawasaki and put in a Lotus twin cam engine, but they are getting rare and expensive .
cheers
David

Looking good in Yellow. Doing the same colour ish with my Mk3 and am toying with the S stripes, but after seeing yours i am defo doing them now
Love the other cars aswell
We have a couple of E-Type and they are great fun, but damn expensive to maintain. We blew the diff out after a few miles of thrashing and it left us with 1 wheel drive lol
That Lotus looks really good fun.
