A new chapter. My first Capri. 2.8 Injection.
Hi guys
I have, today, collected on the trailer my first ever Capri. I am a blue oval man through and through and owned quite a lot of old Fords, mainly Escorts from your standard 1.3l Mk3's to a couple of Escort Cosworth's, Sapphire Cosworths etc etc.
I recently sold a lovely very original Mk3 Escort S1 Turbo due to an impending house move, I need to have an old banger in my life though, other than the wife, so turned my attention to a Ford I have always liked from afar. Not quite a guilty pleasure, but a car I have never thought I'd own. A Capri.
Had to be a 2.8i. No other capri would do. No disrespect to others as I like them all, I just wanted to own a 2.8i, it's that simple
After looking at a few and trawling through lots of advertisements I came across a ''99%'' finished black 5 speed pre special on ebay. It was on for bids, but after a agreeing a deal with the owner I went to see the car and was happy with it and left a deposit. 2 weeks later she is in my garage
It needs recommissioning and most of trim refitting basically. Atleast I hope that's all lol. First thing is to check the health of the engine and go from there. Its a runner, although very lumpy. Quite familier with the Kjet on these so hope to have it running smooth with no problems, then Ill finish the cosmetics.

That's a good reason to buy a 2.8, it's the same reason that I bought mine.
You've owned a lot of decent Ford's in the past, but I'm sure this one will be the most fun!

Congratulations Lee...
Looking forward to the pics sounds a great car, being 99% finished is a real bonus. Like you I've bought just before the real winter months which gives us plenty of work time to get some jobs done before spring. Your previous motors looked great so I'm sure this will be spot on given your ford history. We should meet up next year..just done park to close to mine...

Sorry guys been working on getting it running decent first. Once Im happy its running ok I can strip the engine bay out to freshen it up. I'll add some pics as I go then

They don't run well with old unleaded fuel and you don't want to pull any unwanted debris through the fuel injection system. Sorry if you have already done this, but I don't want you to cause yourselves any more problems

Thanks for your advice much appreciated, fortunately it was one of the first jobs on my list which I hope to finish at the weekend....

Got the side stripes for it . Think they're red over silver
As its been 'specialed' by having the interior fitted and wheels etc I may carry the theme on and gloss the grille and headlight surrounds ! What dya think ?

I think there's not much difference in looks when they're fitted to a black car. Maybe keep them as they are?

I will probably leave them as it only adds to the list of things to do,which Ideally I need to keep low

Hi,
The rocker covers should be painted a light grey colour.
The thermostat housing bolt is an M6 bolt of either 73 or 92mm. Luckily, when one snaps it's an easy removal as the broken bit will just come out with the rear housing.
How did you manage to snap one? They're only tightened to 12 lb/ft!
