Hi,
:agree: It's amazing what difference a good clean makes.
It looks to be a good car from the photos.

Is it a V6 shell with laser graphics or is it a 1.6 Laser that's had an engine transplant?

All the best,
Andrew.

Nice find and in a great colour...

Be interesting to see what you find when recommissioning the car, like yours mine has had long lay up periods and my list of things to do grows by the day. I've found everyone very helpful with advice and supplying/finding parts Etc, good luck and keep the updates coming...

Cheers, Des

Hi,
It's a right sleeper, isn't it?

Has the shell been strengthened for the extra weight and power of the V6 or left as is?

I assume by V6 running gear, you mean engine too? If so, perhaps check for the V6 strengthening plates under wing rails and for reinforcement plates on onner wings around strut tops (obvious extra plate). And for any other bits that probably were fitted to the V6 eg engine mounts.

I worry that a V6 dumped into a shell not modified/meant for it could bring pain and/or danger. Do you know when it was fitted? If about 10 years ago, it's probably an untested entity?

Hi Mike,
That's what I was getting at, but without the doom mongering!
The photo of the engine bay clearly shows that the shell does not have the strut top reinforcement, or the triangular strengthening parts on the bulkhead. Therefore, it's fair to assume that none of the other necessary reinforcements are present either.

My v8 capri hasnt got any of the strengthening plates and its fine around all those areas.. however it is beginning to twist in the middle due to horsepower (4.5 times what it had standard)

I couldn't see the pics for some reason when I posted but you're right Andrew, now I can see them.

I don't mean to scaremonger. Sorry to the OP if I caused alarm. It's entirely a matter of choice for the owner of course, and the V8 experience shared above may mean all is well (to a point - sounds like it is stressing the car). My personal preference would be to have strengthening that Ford designed in. Can't think of a good reason why it was done if not needed.

On a different note, the car has cleaned up nicely!

:agree: I'm with Mike on the strengthening, just to be sure.
Amazing what some elbow grease can do, it looks a different car. Good find too, let us know how it goes, its a great sleeper.
