30th Anniversary of ownership
I thought I would break out my Capri Anorak again, and be a saddo........to celebrate the 30th anniversary of owning my Capri ! (on 30th August 2015 to be precise)
As you can see from the accompanying pictures, the car hasn't really changed that much, but the owner is now in need of a full body restoration, a few replacement panels, and a large dose of TLC !!
Incidentally, the photos were take at exactly the same place.
Andy

Hi Andy,
As Neil said the car looks great, well done on your 30 years together
That's one thing I doubt I will ever celebrate

Re: 30th Anniversary of ownership
Hi Andy,
Congratulations on thirty years of ownership. As the others have said, the car looks as good now as it did then. I bet nobody believes you when you tell them how many miles you've done in the car.
Those thirty years later photos are fantastic, what a great idea. The same poses in exactly the same location....brilliant!
All the best,
Andrew.

Stunning set of pictures Andy, it's amazing you've owned it all this time, your Capri looks like it's kept in great condition. Hope you celebrated this milestone with a memorable drive, thanks for sharing pictures.

Yes she was registered in Surrey, at my (now sadly closed) local Ford dealership in Oxted, where I live. Up until a few years ago she was still being serviced by the same mechanic who performed the pre-delivery inspection on her !.
All the best,
Andy

Excellent stuff mate. 30 years is a long time. I bet it turns heads more now then it did back then with the hot hatch brigade taking centre stage?

Thanks Old Chap !.
Yes I do still get admiring glances, and people approaching me in petrol stations/car parks, etc for a chat. Often they are younger than the Capri !.
All the best,
Andy.

You have to allow extra time at Petrol StationsAndyPandy56 wrote:ESSEXV6ESSEX wrote:Excellent stuff mate. 30 years is a long time. I bet it turns heads more now then it did back then with the hot hatch brigade taking centre stage?

The guy that picked my XR3i up for Waxoyl yesterday was 5 years younger than the car.....
I made sure he was aware there were no 'Creature Comforts' as in the CDTi Astra he arrived in

Congratulations Andy. Car still looks as good as the day you bought it. You've obviously driven it a helluva lot but kept it very carefully.

I enjoy driving her so much more than my every day car (a Fiesta) as you actually HAVE TO DRIVE IT and not just get in and turn the key !.

Many thanks Mike. I think the old saying is, 'maintained regardless of cost' !.MS Injection wrote:Congratulations Andy. Car still looks as good as the day you bought it. You've obviously driven it a helluva lot but kept it very carefully.

Should have invested more in my own bodywork.....
Re: 30th Anniversary of ownership
She's a beauty. Is she Midnight Blue over Strata Silver, Andy, I ask as I had to leave mine behind when I came to USA, She was D430 XUY a year younger than your Babyblue.

Re: 30th Anniversary of ownership
Thanks Maggie. She is Mineral Blue over Stratos Silver. I wonder if your 'baby' is still extant ?
Re: 30th Anniversary of ownership
She was purchased by a car dealer for his own use in the Worcester area. I did check about 6 years ago with the is it DVLA and she was still registered but it seems you can't get on that site any longer to find a vehicle!
