Looks like it's all coming together nicely. Hope you do see it through to the end.
Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
Thought I was going to have the engine in over the bank holiday;
On sunday morning I had a complete engine ready to go bar a stuck spigot bearing outer race.
Monday morning it looked like this;
Moral of the story; it's always really good to have a 'spare' good crank and a new set of shells to hand, and it's also really, really important to make sure that you don't smash a chisel into the end of the crank when you're frustrated and crack it
MoT is booked for next saturday, engine is built and ready to fit tomorrow when I get home from work... Watch this space.

I did a thing yesterday, on my own, in flip flops and shorts.
Started out from the front, with manifolds and fan, feeling brave.
Rapidly gave up on that as everything was hitting everything else and then found out that the crane was too short to reach where it needed to be. Improved angle of dangle;
Boom, instant lows.
Still gotta tighten up the bellhousing bolts as I had to leave immediately after this happened, got 3/4 of an inch or so to go in yet and the clutch pedal is still on the floor... Might have to all come out again but fingers crossed it sorts its shit out when it's fully in and i've done a little adjustment, can pull the cable a fair way out of the bellhousing where it sits now so hopefully that'll be the cure.
I'm getting very excited.
Ps, 3 Litre Power - I use a Canon 550d, and I think all of these are shot with a 24mm f/2.8 lens.

Just managed to sneak a couple of hours spannering after work, it now has a working clutch (after adjusting about two inches out of the cable) which means it's full steam ahead for getting it running this weekend.
And I really need a lower jack, having to do this to get underneath the sills is really tedious.
1970s, anyone?

Made some good progress there. You done all this on your own as well, even more impressive. Always helps having a pair of hands to line stuff up and a pair of eyes to scream when the engine's about to hit the bulkhead.
When's the MOT booked for?

Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
Cheers! Have to say, putting the engine in on my own was not easy - would've loved some extra eyes and hands. Still, work with what you've got (and a big bar for shoving!)
MoT is booked for saturday, gonna set timing and see what happens tonight.

Turns out some idiot was trying to time it to run on the exhaust stroke
Still, this just happened;

Certainly gonna take some ironing out but it's onwards and upwards! MoT saturday.

Good egg. Sounds sweet from the 2 seconds of audio after it started! Why cut it so short?! (did it cut out? )
Whereabouts in the country are you?
Good luck with the MOT.
Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
Haha! It wasn't idling great and i'd been making a lot of cranking and banging noises for a while, was cut short for the sake of my neighbours, i'll get a better clip from outside the car when I take it for a drive this evening after some more timing/ idle adjustment... It's sounding angry and old school and I like it.
I'm in Southend, Essex, but it'll be all over the place as soon as it's got a ticket.

Well, it only went and passed its MOT last week...
But there's trouble in paradise. Who wants to play the mystery engine noise guessing game?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wclXue93Jww
I've got suspicions it's unhappy cam bearings or a knackered cam - they're the only things that received a visual 'that'll be fine" / were taken on face value. That'll teach me. Or it's something I did check, and altogether far more serious Doesn't sound classically bottom end though, but we shall see... Still, nothing I can't overcome - time to pull it to bits again
Still, i've had a nice week or so with it! Ridiculously torquey engine, been leaving it in 4th round town and pulling well from sub 1k rpm/ 10mph. Bit more loving and it'll be very nice indeed. Not being able to give it the beans has been the worst torment known to man. Also i'm not sure if it's poor memory or the stage 3 heads, but jesus christ it's loud now

Sorry to hear about the engine woes, but glad to see you finally got her on the road.
Good show!

Re: 1979 3.0S EOD 825T
The standard gearbox is the Ford Type 5 , 4 speed gearbox, or the Ford C3 3 speed automatic, a Type 9, 5 speed gearbox can also be adapted from a Capri 2.8ivessomitkov wrote:What type of gearbox fit this engine?

Well it's been a while! Finally had the engine out and stripped it down. Verdict? Oil starvation to the rear two rods, dead bearings and a crank good for scrap... Brilliant.
Lessons learned, i'm hopefully gonna be fitting it's freshly rebuilt original engine this morning and praying it goes to plan this time!!
