Great looking car, very nice. I'd want to get in that and drive it around the world.

Is indeed a lovely car. I love it. With it being so nice, the throng of people brushing against it in the first photo would make me sweat a little!

It was Spanish red from the factory , im not sure what it is now but it's a brighter tone for sure , and actually without counting myself it's a single owner car! ... which was my dad  he told me he was getting too old to take care of it a few years ago now, he is still alive and kicking at 68 he even comes down to my house if i can't make something work since he owned the car for 30 years and basically knows it inside out. the car has all of the original panels and has never been welded on + it has a full stainless Steel exhaust , Bosch distributor and coil which i will soon convert to electronic ignition :applaud: there is only one big thig that isn't original , try to find it ;) Oh and i am going to have the valve seals replaced ( i don't know how to do it ) by a trusty mechanic i know + some rubber engine mounts , Gearbox mount and other Little things that don't matter so much.

Hi,
The petrol in the tank? :)
I'm not all that familiar with the Mk2 as it's quite an unusual sight these days, but I can't see any major mods from the photos.
It's fantastic that your car has been family owned from new, that way you can be confident that everything about it is as it should be, and that it's been looked after.
All the best,
Andrew.

I've got it! The steering wheel is on the wrong side!! ;)

It's hard to tell from the photo, but is it the radiator grille? Maybe the Ghia should have one with a chrome strip across the centre where the FORD letters are?

It's Cologne made so it's LHD and yes it has no sunroof so no leaks to worry about ... the engine blew up in '91 but my father managed to source an engine with around 55 thou miles that was in good shape.

Didn't know they made a fibreglass replica, looks good though. Great colour too, looks more vibrant in the Spanish sun than over here.. Must be fantastic to own a known car from new, never owned a mk2 but the more I see them the more I like them. Glad to see you're enjoying it.

Yes it is quite nice to live here with such a car  I live 15 Km or around 8 miles from the beach any day of the weekend during summer I just hop in the car and in 15 minutes I'm there :D and the thin fiberglass replica is actually custom made! And yes MkII s are rare birds I get lots of looks when I go out specially at the beach where there are lots of Brits and Germans I do try to find a spot where there is some shade so it doesn't burn the paint job and otherwise if I leave it in the sun when I come back it's like walking into a furnace...

That looks really good. It's hard to tell from the photos, but is the fibreglass roof painted black, or have you covered it in vinyl? If it's the latter, anyone would be hard pressed to spot the difference, even on close inspection.
Andrew.
