Thanks, I was afraid that was the case. Better get down the gym!

Only homologated to 3.1 so am after a safe 250HP with a similar amount of torque. I will be racking up thousands of miles between rebuilds, and don't have £50k for a GAA Cosworth motor!

250 Hp is possible from a 3.1 , as i said Ric Wood probably could build you a 250 Hp engine no problem :) they have all kinds of goodies to make a bulletproof engine like forged cosworth pistons and rods , Steel cranks and main caps , dry sump systems etc... , they also do alloy / aluminium heads which should shave a nice amount of weight off the engine

Not allowed alloy heads! :crying: I know Ric and he is building Ian Duncan's engine - see above. A friend is building mine, which I am hoping will come out a little cheaper but will be a nice strong engine.

What a bugger they don't allow alloy heads , 250 is possible from an Essex with iron heads though Burton Power Stage 3 heads / full race heads are iron but they flow a whole lot better than standard ones , i would advise either use a tuftrided crank or a Ric Wood Steel crank for the bottom end

Taking shape nicely, it's refreshing to see something different. Looking forward to seeing pictures of it in action.

Latest dyno news - 230 BHP and 340 NM torque, not bad for an old Essex!! Should be a bit better after fettling but that will do for now!!
