My Capri

Post by barnowl930 »

My 1984 Capri 2.0s that I put in my shed 11 years ago after this photo was taken.

I was starting it often but haven't had it running for a couple of years now.
The last time the waterpump was weaping and the exhaust had a blow.

I'm determined to get it out in the spring and get it on the road again so might be after some info then.

Can anyone tell me what this colour is called, i've never seen another only the metallic green.

Regards Jon

Hope the photo works

Hi,
I agree that the colour is very unusual. I like it!
Try looking up the colour code from the VIN /build plates on these websites:

http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/co ... pe_A-L.htm
http://www.fordopedia.org/body-plates/static

Your S must be one of the very last of that model to be registered, being on a B plate. 8-)

There wasn't many appolo green new. Il bet that's one of few left if not the only one.

I've only ever seen real S's this colour though. Never seen the later 5 speed (rebadged laser) in appolo green. Il bet that probably is the only one of those around.

Thanks for the replies the fact that it could be a rare one in this colour has really inspired me to get it back on the road.

I bought the car with a dented front valance and luckily my local ford dealer had one genuine panel left in stock. I had it fitted by a bodyshop near me that had a capri nut working there.

At the time it had never had any welding repairs done and had no corrosion on the body, hopefully this is still the case.

No no. It IS a rare one in that colour. I've never seen a later one in that colour apart from an LS.

Smart looking S there Jon, never seen one that colour. Keep it looking like it is when restored & enjoy the many admiring glances! Shame it's been hidden away for last 11 years, good luck.

Nice set of wheels you've there. Let's hope you can keep/return the cappa to it's original smart condition. 8-)

Well two and a half years after I said I was going to get the Capri going I've actually started. New brakes, brake pipes , battery, free stuck clutch plate etc. Good clean up and then she's up for sale for someone to finish.
The colour code is H3 by the way.

I guess it's a laser or a very late or last 2.0s

Also how much are you selling the car for ?

It's a genuine 2.0s. I have no idea what I'll advertise it for, prices seem to be all over the place on eBay and it will depend on getting it running. The body has suffered a little even though it's been in a garage for many years but it would still be a light restoration for someone. The worst bit is the rear valance above the exhaust.

Hi,
By my reckoning, that makes it Pine green. That, as said previously, must be an extremely rare colour.

I did think it was rare as the laser were out in force . Pine green must say I like that .

A neighbour has said he loves the capris and I said I would keep a eye out for one but I know his penny's are tight so a fix her up would sort him .

So if you have a price I can show him and some more pictures would help .

Thanks Jason

Inside has gone mouldy so that's this weekends job and clean the carb as she won't idle. Engine sounds sweet as a nut still.

I bought it from Mr "Barnowl" last year and it's staying exactly standard and in its original colour as I've never seen another "S" in Pine Green.

Hi Paul,
I didn't realise you had both a 2 litre and a 3 litre S. Very nice indeed! Hopefully I'll get to see it in person one day.
Pine green is a fantastic colour, and I also can't recall seeing another S in that colour.
