Hi,
Welcome to the forum. :welcome:
You will find that there are plenty of people on here who will offer all the advice you will ever need. I hope you get it out on the road soon so you can enjoy it.

That car was a GT4 in a previous life? I think you should prepare for a backlash......... ;)

All the best,
Andrew.

Well is says it was Silver originally and had GT4 beside it but when I looked at the GT4 brochure I couldn't see anything they have in common, how else would I know?

Hi,
Most of the stuff that distinguishes the GT4, like the interior and stripes look like they have been changed long ago. There's not a lot you can do about that, and I would guess that you would not want the car returned to standard specification anyway. Enjoy what you have!

I said to prepare for the backlash because the GT4 is a rare car, and some on here won't appreciate the modifications! Generally, I like to see the cars as standard as possible, but I can appreciate the work that goes into modifying them. I say live and let live!

Andrew.

We will allow the red top.... Purely because out there somewhere is a manta missing its sump and gearbox ;).

Great engines! Even in an Astra! Vauxhall actually got something right with that engine (they did have to kiss cosworths hairy arse for it though) so in my opinion it's allowed.

wasn't GT4 was a cheap marketing theme on a standard base model with odd crimson stickers, a bit like the calypso with it's two-tone thing, underneath was a bog-standard capri?

Screaming 16-valver & black paint is a definite improvement!

Thought I would give a little update on how things are going

My deadline on April 2015 having it on the road has passed but the end is near

After having an Auto electrician inspect the wiring and the several serious fire risks including a cut off switch that if it had of been turn on it would run 2 positives into the MBE ECU. I decided to pull everything out and redo the whole thing
Image

Got the Mk 2 bumper to fit and some chrome mirrors & grill
Image

Found a big problem
Image

Break the hub down to add the longer studs
Image

Had to add 16mm spacers and new studs which was a pain which lead me to buy an battery pack impact gun which IS A MUST FOR ANY TOOLBOX my God it saves time
Image

Next I need to change RUBBER fuel lines from the tank to the engine and fitting an alarm with CL

plus a million other bits :)

Keep the faith

Actually don't answer that... my clock is one of the few mint original features in my Capri so I should keep it!
