Love this build thread.

It's got to be getting close now?
What happened with the fiberglass wings in the end?

I kinda lost heart in the wings for now and started on the drive train and suspension
I was fiddling around with a potential brake upgrade for the front this eve and it looks like I have something that will work nicely.
Im even considering building the custom exhaust system now too and store it away till the time comes..

My theory is to try and get all this kinda stuff done then back on rotisserie for body work, then everthing is a straight fit when it goes on for reals and im not cutting and welding in the garage where my hopefully painted car will be.

As for getting close I'm a long way off yet! Might sign up for some medical testing to fund my massive shopping list. . .

Got the watts linkage bolted on. All can be removed via a few bolts. Nothing welded in place except some small pieces of tube on the chassis to anchor bolts. Essentially nothing that can't be erased without a trace. Just in case I ever change my mind.








Also DIY'D some caltracs to stop axle twist under acceleration...







And a camaro rear arb mounted under the axle. The Camaro specific drop links wont work so I modified them to fit

And got some rubber on to see how she sits..





Needs spaced out an inch or so on the back.

Now I know that it all fits without fowling I can do a final weld and add some extra braces and gussets to wherever needed.

Got some bigger brakes fitted up front.

285mm disc and a mondeo caliper

Ditching those horrible US spec bumpers for some chrome ones but the rear mount brackets I got were bent out of shape and my rear valance and chassis legs are new so no real reference points.. basically I just made my own







One potential issue I may have run into with the caliper was it hitting the inner wing tower. These single piston calipers have one large piston to the rear and my rims would not allow the caliper to be mounted further outward.



With the spare wheel well gone, plan is to run a 3" exhaust system and have something similar to this for Twin exhausts.

Is that a Caltrac bar setup you are using with the leafs?
The watts link setup with removeable cross brace is what i am going for also, although my watts is a slightly different design.
It is a great looking project

DIY'D caltrac torque arms. I just copied what they look like but the real deal have a solid aluminium front bush so there is absolutely no slop. I just using a poly bush which seems stiff enough but there are Racing bushes with higher shore poly that I could fit later, or get some alloy ones turned.

I'm gonna add an extra piece to the watts pivot area and have a few extra holes so the crank can be lowered if needed.

And I found a spot for the first intercooler of my twincharged setup... i have the adjustable struts as low as they will go and the shock will bottom out before i get tyre contact.. either that or I put an aviary in there?

Cheers Peter, I was really avoiding that bonnet edge for a year... its right there in plain sight and cant be hidden like some other areas ive fixed, I was super scared of the bonnet warping but i think i got away with it.

Fitted a bias box, not the easiest job as I had to get rid of the servo bracket it was supposed to be mounted to to gain some extra room. Mounted directly to firewall. Good n sturdy..

Interior will look stock. I don't have the tools or ability to sew up a nice custom job so I'll get front seats recovered, try and fix the massive cracks in the dash and make some sort of gauge cluster under ashtray for the various read outs I'll have... that's the plan so far. But then again. . . .!

Had to get some struts on the bonnet as it was difficult to get wings and lights lined up with one hand and then trying to prop up the bonnet with the other

Inspired choice of intercooler location! GOing to be interesting to get a good bit of airflow to it there. Hav you considered running a water cooled intercooler?
