Hi All,
Here's a few photos of what I've been up to recently. I've been inspired by the photos on this forum of coolair's stunning 2.8 Injection Special.
Sorry for the quality of the photos, but it's hard to get a decent photo in the garage.

Genuine Bilstein shocks. Or are they my old Spax with some excellent quality stickers provided by Ian (Mellow-yellow)?

No other word for it, immaculate! I see your tea towel has sneaked into the shot again, it's almost as well known as your car Andrew. Looking good mate.

Looks fantastic and a real credit to your patience getting it to that standard and detail...

I've obviously missed it but how long have you owned the car?

Cheers, Des

Hi Des,
Thank you for your kind comments, much appreciated as always.
I haven't owned the car for all that long really, 3 years or so. I've been gradually improving it over that time to get it to a standard where I'm happy with it. Just about the only thing that's the same as when I bought it is the paintwork, engine block and gearbox. everything else has been worked on or replaced by me and, hopefully, improved over how it was.

The next stage is a total refurbishment of the front suspension and some more cleaning and zinc plating of items under the bonnet.

All the best,
Andrew.

I looked at the original pictures you posted prior to the work completed to date. The car looked great then IMO, I have loads to sort on mine inc interior and paintwork so your pre work condition is my aim for now. Capris as yours I know aren't for everyone but serve as inspiration to me....keep up the good work...

Cheers, Des

Hi Des,
Cheers. I know it's a cliché, but Capris really are individual and the owners can make them to be exactly as they want them. I like mine as more or less standard with a few discreet improvements here and there.

All the best,
Andrew.

Andrew

I for one admire your bashfulness and your praise of everybody else's cars when yours looks so exceptional. The underside is revealed to be clean as a whistle and pretty as a picture. I was underneath mine last night and whilst 99.9% rust free, it is good and mucky. Must move house to a place with garage and get her as clean as yours.

The 2.8 is a real credit to your hard work.

Hi All,
I picked up this little beauty from Ebay a few weeks ago.

Image

It was listed at £25 buy it now, but I offered the seller £20, which was accepted. As it looks pretty manky, the plan was to send it off to be refurbished.
However, when I opened it up, I was pleasantly surprised at what I found.

Image

A quick lick of paint with new nuts and bolts and it's as good as new.

Image

Sadly, the motor on my rotary tool burnt out while I was polishing the top part where the fuel lines connect. That's why it looks unfinished in the photo. Oh well, you can't win them all!

Cheers Lee. :D My car is nowhere near as nice as a lot of the forum cars, but I do what I can to try to keep it in decent condition.
I'm quite pleased that I was in the right place at the right time to obtain a spare warm-up regulator for a decent price.

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Mark,
That's kind of you to say so, thanks very much. It's not a patch on your beautiful Janspeed 3.0S though.......

Just looking at your pictures again, you haven't just got a stunning Capri you've got one of the most well kept (& clean) classics out there. A credit to your hard work Andrew.

Hi Rob,
That's nice of you to say so, thanks very much. The word on the street is that there's a stunning mercury grey Capri in South Wales that's about to steal my thunder..... I hope to see it soon.

I don't consider keeping the Capri clean a chore, it's something I really enjoy.

All the best,
Andrew.
