I looked up the word immaculate in the dictionary and there was a photo of your Capri as the definition.

Simply a fantastic car, enjoy!

All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Russell,
That really is a beautiful laser and it sounds like you will treasure it and pamper it as it deserves! The only criticism I have is that the tyres need to be dressed, but you've probably done that already!
I hope you don't mind me asking, but didn't you have that stunning black 2.8 before? It's a shame you had to sell that one. I saw the pictures you had on a thread on here and was almost rendered speechless by the condition of it (in a good way :) ).
How do manage to find such immaculate original Capris?
All the best,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew :-)

Completely agree on the tyres....they are still grubby after its journey home but will be rectified soon!

In regards to the Black 2.8, although it was a supreme car I never really felt I bonded with it - I didn't really like the colour - felt that the Capris shape was somehow lost with black. A good friend of mine bought the car from me and it is now down in Essex.

Ive already bonded with this car - the idea of keeping hold of a Red 1600 particularly appeals as my Dad had one in the mid 80s and its my earliest childhood memory being in that Red 1600 Capri :-)

Luck I guess mate, but you've just got to keep looking and being prepared to travel - had to do an 820 mile round trip for this Laser and it was about the same with the previous car :-)

Kind Regards

Russell.

It is well know that I disregard laser capris as doner cars to keep proper capris in spare parts, but you have changed my mind with that beauty it is truly stunning and I bet you have a smile on your face like a dog with 2 dicks when you drive it. The only thing I see wrong is it has the wrong gear knob, but I know that has been addressed.

Hi Mike,

Much appreciated for the very kind words indeed!!! Thank the lord the correct gearknob has been now fitted thanks to your good self - it was really annoying me!!

I used to be the same as you Mike - ive had a 3.0 Ghia and a 2.8i previously.....but the grin factor driving this one is off the scale :-) Just seems to feel really pure and simple somehow. As my Dad had a red 1600 in the 80s it feels right somehow that I have followed suit :-) Thanks Mike, appreciate it.

why join the "LASER" forum then ? this is a truly mint capri but get your most pleaser out of driving it. get some miles on it and drive it hard just the way they like it. also your going to have to change a lot more things than the gear knob if you want this car to be 100% original. for instance it has a 4 branch manifold, performance HT leads, CD radio player, non standard coil, the round battery terminals instead of flat ones and if you want to go the extra mile you could take the stickers off the battery and put motor craft ones on there.

Cheers very much indeed Dan :-) Agreed: there are still a few things to change (the CD player is going in favour of the original with new dash surround. In terms of the battery it will be getting replaced with a genuine Ford one. The leads and Coil im happy with as they improve things. Still undecided about the manifold: I like the fact its maybe breathing a bit easier.

Kind Regards, Russell.
