repair of my 2.8i after volvo smashed my back end *COMPLETE*
it started like this:
So had back panel and boot floor cut out, then put onto machine to pull back o/s rear wing
had new boot floor cut in, and welded in
put tailgate on , and just needs the o/s rear panel pulling 1 inch to the right before welding in rest of the boot floor
then, to fit the back panel!

Great work! It's easy to give up on them after something like this happens so it's really good to see someone putting in the hard work to sort it out.

That's great to see! You must be really pleased with yourself. Wonder if the Volvo will be on the road any time.. or at all. Excellent to know the Cappa will be done first.
I'm the one who leaves all those shoes in the carriageway.

Re: Started repair of my 2.8i after volvo smashed my back end
its been a bit handy as the money they paid out has more than covered the cost of repair, so i have had bad spots welded over and underseald, paid £1475 for the car and was given £1700, and getting full re-spray, replacment arches, all rust cut out and plates welded in, so it will be mint.
just got front strut brace, and rear handling kit, and various bits to improve aswell, cant not wait to be taking him out for a spin, girlfriend refuses to let me call it a she/her as its sounds and looks too much of a beast!

back panel fully welded in.
new arches welded on.
and rust has been cut out from front wing and replaced
just have to have the welds grinded down, then to start preping the body for paint, also have had some welding done to the chassis at the back end and underneath. which has held it up a little. should fly this week. (i hope)

Re: Started repair of my 2.8i after volvo smashed my back en
trust me i know how you feel about body repairs, was driving along the backroads when a car didn't dip the headlights coming up to a corner that i couldn't see was as sharp as it was because i was blinded, drove through a fence and into a field, still, whilst i was there and the car only had body damage I may have liberated the rear wheel drive a little bit lol! all was fine, just body damage and the policeman i called to report it told me he did the exact same thing in his not far when he was my age just finished putting the new parts on and painting them and its drying at the minute, all for 200 quid for a bonnet, grille, bumpers and front valance and a slam panel (thats been waxoiled) stupid junk yard owners = perfection!
Insurance wise for an 18 year old it was the Capri.... or the 1.0 fiesta. I chose the loud, shouty car instead =D

Excellent work dude. That's dedication for you. Most normal folks would've given up straight away and gone search for another replacement.

Nice work, I definitely would have thought it was a goner. How are the costs going or is it just a matter of hours worked?
