New purchase 2.0 laser & new member.

Postby Brooksy » Fri Sep 14, 2018 4:26 pm

Hi everyone, just joined after becoming the owner of a Strato Silver 2.0 laser last Friday. My last Capri was a 1984 2.0s, 5 speed which I sold back in 1996.
I'm so pleased at becoming a Capri owner again, after a 22 year hiatus. I purchased her in Warrington from a great chap (4th keeper) and drove home to Exeter last Friday afternoon. Driving back through rush hour M6/M5 traffic in a 31 year old car was a bit if a baptism of fire but she never missed a beat. She was registered on 14 October 1987 so I'm thinking it's quite a late registration? It appears pretty original and in good condition having never been welded. Mileage is 75k and I have the original bill of sale, service books and MOT's as well as the original torch key, which works! There are are a couple of things to sort like replacing suspension bushes, propshaft centre bush and a couple of small rust bubbles. However, driving her makes me smile and that is a feeling I've really missed. At some point I will get some better photos on. Loving being part of the Capri community again. Cheers. Nige

Thanks Andy from Exeter and hopefully the link works although the pics aren't the best.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. :welcome:
From what you've wrote, it sounds like you've bought a really nice original Capri, having all that documentation and history is a good indication that the car has been cherished by it's former owners.
It's good to hear that you are enjoying owning a Capri again, putting a smile on your face is a lot of what Capri ownership is about, in my opinion.

Andrew.

Thanks for your words Andrew.

Yes the car seems to have been well looked after by it's previous owners and that's what drew me to it.

Hi and thanks.

I'm already seeing the wealth of knowledge and expertise on here, which is amazing.

Don't seem to be able to upload any photos for some reason but as soon as I can, I will.

Cheers Jasonmarie.

There's a few things that could do with sorting or need attending to but on the whole she seems an original solid car that I'm thrilled to custodian of.

Will look into those that you mention, much appreciated.

Cheers Andy

We've always enjoyed going to Powderham, Killerton and the newer one at Darts Farm so we'll see.

Just managed to get the dash lights working and the exhaust sealed properly (new clamp).
